Silly tricks your pets do

This past week my spaniel has been showing me her new trick. My printer is low enough for her to reach and recently when she hears it start up she sits in front and waits. Then when the paper has come out she takes it out with her teeth and brings it to me. This is totally unprompted. Of course, it means some things are a bit teeth marked by the time they get to me but it is so cute I don't want to stop her. It just means I have to get there before she does if it is something that can't have the spaniel treatment.

Do any of your pets do any silly tricks like that?

A friends dog, a boston, used to spin arounfd on her bottom...

It looked like she was 'Breakdancing'...

I thought it was cool, but then discovered she had worms... :(

Well, unhappily I don't have pets... But if I had one I'd teach him some tricks... haha

LauraLee 12-16-2008 05:24 AM

Mine just steals my flip flops. Over and over and over again..

Vixenator 12-16-2008 06:08 AM

My cat can untie my shoelaces with its teeth... it then proceeds to chew on them. :winkwink:

My dog licks his balls voraciously.

The wife said to me the other day when he was doing it. "I bet you wish I could do that!"

I said. "Give him a biscuit, he might let you" :)

When my Lab is laying down, I can set a cookie on his front paw, and make him wait for the signal to eat it. There's usually a big puddle of drool on the floor by that time.

My younger cat plays fetch and actually makes birdcalls when he sees them outside the window.

We have 4 "dog beds" in the living room. That is where they sleep and stay when we eat.

They all want the same bed because its the closest one to where we sit, but one of the dogs have figured out, that if it walks to the door and bark, the others will come to check what is going on. It then quickly runs back and steal the best bed, from whoever had it before.

It does the same thing if they get a bone, and it want the bone one of the other have.

If i click my fingers my cat jumps from the ground up into my arms

pornguy 12-16-2008 06:49 AM

Mine chases her tail. She will often catch it but under one of her hind legs, And then keeps spinning in circles until she falls.

Spunky 12-16-2008 06:53 AM

My cat stands on her hind legs and rubs the side of her head with her front paws when she wants a treat

My cats will do all kinds of stuff - not random stuff, but stuff I actually trained them to do.

They can both use the toilet, Cinnamon can say meow on command, they can climb ladders, and one I didn't teach them (which would qualify as random) is that Cinnamon can get ice from the fridge.

Here are some videos:

My dog takes my socks off for me. Its annoying tho when I'm sitting during the day and he decides to come up to me and take my sock off LOL. Its good at night tho when I'm relaxing all reclined on the sofa. :)

My lab does that to. I can put any type of food down in front of him and he won't dare touch it till I tell him. My girlfriend can even say "take it" or "get it" and he won't touch it till I give him the command. I trained him well... but also, Labs are very easy to train.

My home office is upstairs and my dog will hang out and try and instigate a game of fetch with his tennis ball.

When I go downstairs for something he will stop and lay at the top of the stairs and
put the tennis ball down in front of him. If I keep going he pushes the tennis ball down the stairs behind me.
If I stop at the bottom of the stairs he keeps the ball. When I walk off he pushes
the ball and it comes tumbling down the stairs. I'll turn around and pick up the ball and throw it
back up to him and he'll catch it. He keeps it until I walk away and then he pushes the ball
down the stairs again and I get it and throw it back to him.

It took me awhile but I finally figured out that he had turned the tables and now had
me fetching the ball for him. I've been getting some video and will be editing it together
for a funny clip on how my dog taught me a new trick :1orglaugh

I tried that with my dog but put it on his nose. He did it first try and all we had to work
on was how long to hold it. I tell ya Goldens and Labs aren't much of a challenge :winkwink:

Our dog has learned that we keep his treats in a roses chocolate tin in the kitchen, So he will sit in the kitchen and whine until one of says "whats the matter" he will then look up at you and then turn his head towards the tin with his treats in, and bark We then say "what do you want" and he will again look up at you then look at his treat tin and bark, If we dont give him a treat he makes a noise almost like a horse as if he is disgruntled with us then he will walk back into the lounge lay down and just ignore us, pretty funny to watch.

Our Boston Terrier plays catch. We found some soft rubber balls which are just a bit smaller than a soft ball and she sits in front of me about 5 feet away from her. I toss her the ball and she bats it back to me with her nose. Her aim is great. I can sit in a chair and play catch with her and she is good enough at it now that I can catch all the shots she returns.

The puppy (now 2) is a decorator. He rounded off the edges of all the tables (making them so much safer!) and helped me make a non-skirted fabric chair into one that now has a skirt.

The nose trick has been more challenging for Bodie than I expected.

Ah, my spaniel also shares that talent. Hence, we haven't had a coffee table in two years.

My 2 Chihuahuas like to "get the mail". I get the mail key they follow, I "hand them the mail, nothing important and they each take something in the house for me. Its cute!

The Duck 12-16-2008 11:41 AM

Thats funny. My parrot likes to throw empty toilet paper rolls in the air.

Kudles 12-16-2008 07:13 PM

How did you train them to use the toilet? My cat is pretty smart and I would love to know how to teach him to do this :upsidedow

sexandcash 12-17-2008 02:43 AM

one of my cats always comes when I call him...which frankly doesn't sound all that impressive but it's a cat, not a dog so I'm posting it up here. :)
