phpbuilder.com

they have better tutorials than most books.. plus a searchable db of functions, archived boards of Q&A.. and you can always just print of the entire manual.. bam.. instant php book.

honestly.. its of the upmost quality, no need to ever get a book.

First book I learned PHP (and some MySQL) from:
PHP Essentials - Julie Meloni

Favorite books since then:
PHP Developer's Cookbook - Sterling Hughes
PHP and MySQL Web Development - Luke Welling

I own about half-dozen more php or mysql related books. One I think would be good is the O'Reilly book
Programming PHP - Rasmus Lerdorf

The CORE php book. That lists all the functions completely. But for learning php I would go with the Sams book thats php in 24 hours (I think). I always go back to that one. :thumbsup
