Funny article about jobs from Mike Rowe...
I think he brings up some good points. I would wager that 99% of us never sat around when we were 13 with our guidance counselor and said "I want to live in front of a computer and oh yeh, sell Internet porn." Chase opportunities and take your passion with, Mike says...

That article is already awesome, I just read the term 'milking venomous spiders'.

I thought this could use a bump.

He's spot on. You aren't lead by your passion you bring it with you. Few people are doing exactly what they want to do. Unless its extremely vague i.e. be my own boss. It's finding an opportunity and bringing your passion on board.
On a personal note, I never wanted to be anything. I've failed many reports/papers on "What I want to be" and "Where I'll be in 10 years". But it's all worked out. I do what I want, which ain't much. When I want, which is hardly ever. I'm able to pay the bills and then some. Seeing as I never wanted to do anything and now I'm making a living not doing anything. Dreams do come true :) I've been making dough online since I was 14 mostly freelancing. This is the only job I've ever had and probably ever will. |
I've always watched dirty jobs whenever I get the chance. Its amazing how many jobs there are out there.

It's pretty interesting to read his background... I think it was a Fast Company article actually. The guy truly is very wise.

Nice read. I always watch his show while working :thumbsup

Btw someone should send him a suggestion to do a Dirty Job episode about DirtyWhiteBoy's tranny adventures.
