That's what happens when you use PayPal for porn these days. :winkwink:

Barefootsies 12-12-2008 06:51 AM

It's their game, and their ball. They make the rules. If you do not like it. Do not use them.

Porn, or not. I have had similar happen on mainstream, and domain purchases over the past two years.

If it's legit. Just give them their info, and be on your way.

a lot of questions, i smell troubles

tammix 12-12-2008 07:46 AM

I have learned that paypal has introduced what they call "screening methods" to monitor any unusual movement, like using diff IP's to log in. They will suspend your acc. temporarly on the basis "we believe your account was used for a third party", so beware those who travel a lot and log in from different ips...

For those people, it's best to call PayPal and notify them ahead of time of your travels. I have seen on mainstream boards that people have had to do that to prevent the hassle when out of town in Asia, or where ever.

bloggingseo 12-12-2008 07:57 AM

Rut roh! Paypal has always been fickle:2 cents:

LOL! are you kidding? they will respond like this in recording voice (after passing for lots of steps):

"Hi, thanks for contacting us regarding your next trip. Please send us by fax the following documents:
1. Copy of your passport along with a letter of your mother giving you permission to travel abroad
2. Copy of your plane ticket along with a letter from the president of the airline company asuring your flight will leave on time
3. A letter from the hotel where you booked along with three utility bills of that hotel to confirm it really exists and its not a fake address (cable utility bill not valid since they run porn movies on demand, which is against Paypal Moral Policy)
4. All copies of all the vacinne tests you took especially if you are traveling to countries where Paypal has not entered yet
5. A letter from your local priest in which he confirms that you are not an adult webmaster.

And thanks always for letting us to have a chance to freeze your account when the screener didn't wake up in his/her mood or just watched a Mr Bean episode and got inspired to fuck someone's day"

The Duck 12-12-2008 08:15 AM

Heh. You gotta love sarcasm.

As I said before... they are not a bank, and they can run their company however they like. Just as many adult programs, and their rules and restrictions can vary. Same as EPASS asks for all kinds of docs when they suspect fraud, or unauthorized use.

It's their ball, and their game. Do not like it? Take your ball and go home, or do not use their service.

They do not owe you convenience. They are a business.

OldSchoolJim 12-12-2008 08:23 AM

I understand its their biz...but to ask for private email transmissions is a joke....

i will let the $$ sit there for 180 days and then take it...no way i give out private emails

I agree with you. They can run their business as they choose but that is why I avoid using them as much as possible. I would never hand over the information that they are requesting short of a fucking court order. :2 cents:

Well, one of the problems is their TOS says they can freeze your account for any reason they want to and that they do not have to disclose to you the reason. They can then freeze the funds in your account for up to 6 months while the "investigate" They never manage to complete an investigation before the 6 months is up though. After the 6 months is up, then YOU have to call and ask them to release the funds, they are not automatically released and by that time a lot of people have moved on and forgotten about it.

Now the practices are considered "unfair", and a class action suit was filed. Paypal had two choices. If they let it go to court there was a 100% chance the courts would make them change the TOS or they could settle out of court, which means the TOS could remain in tact and they could continue doing what they do....they settled out of court.

Twice paypal froze an account I had, in both cases it was frozen right after receiving a rather large amount. In both cases both myself and the person sending the money were verified. The transactions had nothing to do with porn. In one instance the amount they froze in the paypal account was over $5,000. They gave no reason for freezing it. They asked no questions. They would only tell me it was "under investigation". After 6 months I called them, they released the funds and unfroze my account with no explanation.

There are a lot of instances such as this with no reasonable explanation. In my case, the transactions that took place were not out of the ordinary and they were from a regular customer that placed orders on a regular basis for various amounts.

yeah buddy, but there are not Michaels O's there with a spirit of service and prompt response... Paypal is run only by arrogant bitches

andy83 12-12-2008 09:38 AM

paypal screwed my biz account for over 2k euros sometime back ago (guy was a scammer) never used it anymore after emptying it.

valkyrie8 12-12-2008 09:53 AM

I received an email from paypal just recently saying that they would be implementing some new fraud protection upgrade. Your best bet is not to use paypal for our industry, because obviously they're to moral for that.
