Download youtube movies as mp4 ( for ipod etc )
 

I notice alot of sites that let you download youtube videos for ipod always have to convert them first.

Heres a really simple way

just take the video id and place it into the following url

non-working example
http://66.112.210.78/mp4/VIDEO-ID-HERE.mp4

working example
http://66.112.210.78/mp4/NT-2fenmLnc.mp4

video the above example is from

#1 heres what happened when i tried to download the exact same file i posted in this thread from vixy

Error: Sorry, server is too busy..

#2 as i mentioned above, vixy has to convert the video first this eliminates that need

#3 something i didnt mention is, the mp4 is straight from youtube, meaning it doesnt have to be converted to flv then reencoded as mp4, i'm pretty sure this results in a higher quality copy

I thought google offered mp4 movies directly? That's how you can view youtube vids on the iphone to start with as there is no flash player....

not trying to slam such services, vixxy seems to offer the same basic service. BUT...

i just tried with the same video as above and it isn't working for me. i could be wrong though

it just sits and stalls , nothing happens

i have seen it on google video but i dont see any download options on youtube pages, could be wrong though.

This way is just a simple method for my friends, nothing more.
