Marijuana related arrests in the U.S. account for 90% of all drug related arrests. The U.S. Government spand over 7 billion dollars a year enforcing the persecution of non-violent pot smokers. If marijuana were to be legalized and taxed at the same level a booze and cigarettes both of which are much more dangerous than pot, we could turn a 7 billion dollar expenditure into a 6 billion dollar revenue.

You should really check out NORML's website (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) -recognized as a tax deductible not-for-profit organization by the IRS

I figure why just smoke it, why not do join a reputable organization and change the law.

How do you plan to gain money from it if it's legal?

Duh, From the revenue from taxing weed. Just like taxing booze, and cigs.

Malicious Biz 12-11-2008 11:47 PM

Marijuana should remain illegal lest it poison the minds of the proletariat

You do realize.... People can grow the shit themselves if its legal. So there is no tax revenue. Just like people grow corn for themselves. Sure if you sold it or bought it there could be revenue.

But I'd fucking grow it in my house/backyard if I could legally.

Persius 12-11-2008 11:52 PM

no , rather not have every douche bag smoking

I agree ... but the US could probably do with the tax dollars that it would create and help create jobs for the unemployed auto-workers!

True, but corn is legal now and I don't grow it. I'd rather buy it at the supermarket, and leave the growing to the experts.

You do realize, that yes many people will grow it themselves, but most people lack the space, time, or know-how.
Not to mention that even now there is/can be a huge difference in the quality of the smoke from weed grown in a optimal controlled environment, and weed grown in your closet or back yard.

valkyrie8 12-12-2008 12:00 AM

Also tobacco is legal. I smoke camels, but I don't grow tobacco in my back yard. I'd much rather buy my cigs at the discount smoke shack.

Marijuana use turns your mind into useless mush and robs you of all motivation, productivity or usefulness but I see no reason why the government needs to decide for me if I want to fuck up my brain with that crap.

Scott McD 12-12-2008 10:36 AM

That's a bit of a judgemental statement. When I was a senior in high school quite a while ago, I smoked pot, went to school, worked two jobs, owned a car, made car payments, made insurance payments, paid for my own gas, balanced my own check book, and had my own credit card that I kept up, and still I managed to graduate with a 3.9.

Martin 12-12-2008 10:41 AM

I think it should be legal for medical use for sick people as a start. It's a lot less harmful and has less harsh side effects then the shit they give you to take. It's pretty harmless in moderate doses. 100x less harmless on your brain/body then a night out drinking.

And what kind of information do you use to back up that statement?

If you're a lazy ass to begin with pot will make you more lazy, if you're a creative person it will make you more creative, if you like movies/music you like it more etc etc. People like him just buy into the shit they are told no questions asked.

tranza 12-12-2008 11:32 AM

Every drug would be legalized, fuck off everything! hahahaha! (666)

Sorry, I should have said marijuana "abuse." Occasional marijuana use is harmless.

:thumbsupRight on, I'd grow a fucking field of it too but, The gov. would be able to make so much money taxing marijuana sales it wouldnt even be funny. Could you imagine the convinence of walking into a store and walking out with a pack of hydro wides in a box?:pimp

Alot of people wont grow it even if they do make it legal, but they'll buy the shit

Bingo. In places where it is legal/quasi legal and openly sold, there are still tons and tons of people who want to buy it and not grow it.
