Why can't joe find a job?

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock, (MADE IN JAPAN ), for 6am. While his coffeepot, (MADE IN CHINA ),was perking, he shaved with his electric razor, (MADE IN HONG KONG).

He put on a dress shirt, (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans, (MADE IN SINGAPORE), and tennis shoes, (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet, (MADE IN INDIA), he sat down with his calculator, (MADE IN MEXICO), to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch, (MADE IN TAIWAN), to the radio, (MADE IN INDIA), he got in his car, (MADE IN GERMANY), filled it with GAS, (from Venezuela), and continued his search for a good paying job.

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, checking his Computer, (Made In Malaysia), Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals, (MADE IN BRAZIL), poured himself a glass of wine, (MADE IN FRANCE), and turned on his TV, (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in the USA

Didn't write this, but thought it was pretty accurate :1orglaugh

What's still Made in America?

tony286 12-11-2008 08:29 PM

very good points.

SilentKnight 12-11-2008 08:31 PM

Perhaps the Joes of this world should have paid closer attention to labels and 'bought American'.

Just a thought...

Almost impossible to find these days. Even if it says made in canada/america, that only has to mean assembled in canada/america. All materials, parts, etc can still come from other countries.

TheSenator 12-11-2008 08:40 PM

I make short sales of futures in Southern Jersey.

Yeah, except anything made in america is usually shoddy quality, or built with parts made in other countries :1orglaugh

Sad but true, I look around my room and I can't find anything made in the US.

...Dang, I just looked at some old books I have to see maybe...nope...printed in Canada.

A dismal truth to an extent. Under current Canadian law, if 51 per cent of the production costs were incurred in Canada and the last substantial transformation of the product occurred in Canada, it is legal to use the 'Made in Canada' labels.

Harper has already proposed amendments to the guidelines to toughen them up.

Not to say its easy - but...if one does their homework well enough - they can still find products that are entirely made in Canada/U.S.

pretty funny, and pretty right on, hardly anything is made in the US now a days...

andy83 12-12-2008 10:35 AM

90% of the items (except maybe GAS, because china needs more gas than it can produce) you mentioned are available in china, all the other markets are gonna die off cause of china.

How can Joe afford French wine?

The Duck 12-12-2008 11:27 AM

Made in *insert your country here* exists in most countries but the 3rd world brands are always cheaper due to slave wage labour.

tranza 12-12-2008 11:34 AM

Go to the Gym everyday, work hard there and become "body builder" or porn actor, here in Brazil it's a good job. HAHAHHAHAH!

Jobs that get sent offshore generally aren't high paying for Americans (1st worlders)...Dos centavos

firecracker 12-12-2008 01:09 PM

How can we support "made in America". when we can't find anything to buy that is made here?

cykoe6 12-12-2008 01:17 PM

Likely Joe has no marketable skills and therefore seeks a high paying job to do essentially nothing. That s why there is a government sector......... to provide meaningless jobs for lazy, unskilled people who bring nothing to the table but a strong sense of entitlement.

Kudles 12-12-2008 01:25 PM

Thats so true!!!

So true... I've been seeking a government job for ages. I'm locked out due to cronyism and nepotism. Dammit.
