Yeah, waste of money...Movie sucked.

WiredGuy 11-10-2002 10:25 PM

Saw it, felt like it was incomplete. I wasn't happy it ended the way it did as his career was going up. But I did like the movie.

I don't see anything special about the movie that would make me rush to see it.

ColKurtz 11-10-2002 10:32 PM

Lots of stupid people.

This is something I think a lot about. Every day I am amazed how stupid people are out there. But on the other hand, the dumber people are, the easier it is to take advantage of them. Kind of a double edge sword.

SykkBoy 11-10-2002 10:44 PM

yup, worst news about that...$54M opening weekend = a sure sequel to follow :(

but, next week it's going to get pummelled by the boy wizard (I already have my advanced tickets purchased for me and the kids)

tekart 11-10-2002 10:47 PM

Not a big fan of Em but me and some friends threw down the $5 bucks for the matinee showing at a local theater on Friday and:

1. Felt it was a bit slow in some places
2. Wish they had Em doing some of those 'shows' more through out the show...to showcase his freestyle ability a bit more. Would like to have seen him get beat one or two more times before coming back at the end to win respect.
3. Brittany Murphy's character really didn't do anything but allow for a somewhat 'ok' quickie sex scene to be added to the flick.
(As well as show that she was a slut for fucking his buddy in the studio)

There are a few other aspects that I wish they had done better, but when you take the movie as a whole...it was pretty good.
(7 out of 10 I'd say! :) )

I can't believe that Femme Fatale did so poorly...do we truly live in a country where people are passing up a Rebecca Romajin Stamos lesbo scene for an Eminem movie? I weep for the country's future :(

Crappy plot

Crappy white trash acting

Crappy music

Your comment reminded me of a quote --

"There are only two things that are infinite. The universe and the stupidity of people. I am not certain about the former."

I thought it was so so. I enjoyed the freestyle battles though.

how was mnm?

The bad thing was there were a TON of inside jokes and one-liners that only people who are from Detroit know.

1. The "Chin Tiki" is a run down building that hasn't been open since I have been going downtown (I am 29).

2. The Shelter back then was notorious for playing goth, skinhead, punk music.

The funny part is that I live off 16 Mile (which was one of the early jokes in the film).

I thought the film was Ok, even though I am from Detroit...it was Karate Kid, Purple Rain, etc. etc...

I personally thought it wasn't that bad, it wasn't great. but it wasn't horrible. I've seen worse.

Atleast it was better than State Propety :winkwink:

FreeNetPass Dave 11-11-2002 01:10 PM

I still think he is a moron, but god dam his music is catchy.

All movies that appeal mainly to teenage boys do very well (boxoffice-wise) during the first weekend. Then they fizzle.

Teen boys are easily influenced by advertising, are afraid of being left out, and rarely have big weekend plans.

Just ask Adam Sandler.

My suggestion is if this movie appeals to you, see it soon before it is gone from the theaters.

Alky 11-11-2002 03:40 PM

i guess i will be the first to say that i thought it was good, and he acted fairly well in it. the scenes at the shelter were definetly good.
