Terry Gilliam is a great director and I enjoy his movies.

Ever see Tideland? Talk about disturbing...

Didn't see that one. Just saw it on Amazon though, thought about picking it up.

HDV18 12-10-2008 11:15 PM

Looks cool. definitely like his older stuff.

bhutocracy 12-11-2008 02:29 AM

CaptainHowdy 12-11-2008 07:43 AM

Sorry to break it but Terry Gilliam movies are declining since "Brother's Grimm" and so on...

he was filming this movie when he died. Johnny Depp and other actors where hired to finish Heath's part. not sure how that is going to work out.

John-ACWM 12-11-2008 09:52 AM

Gonna watch it for sure! I feel so sorry for Heath, he was very talented.

In the movie his character is able to travel through different parallel worlds after making a deal with the devil and can this change his appearance. I was reading about how they managed to pull it off with footage he'd already shot and the other actors stepping in. to play his parallel characters.

Terry Gilliam has had a really rough time getting movies made over the years.

Machete_ 10-12-2010 01:06 PM

the movie was shit

Paper_Amar 10-12-2010 01:07 PM

I thought this movie was great!

Ethersync 10-12-2010 01:20 PM

A disappointment.

Machete_ 10-12-2010 01:23 PM

Box Office
Budget: $30,000,000 (estimated)

Thread title sounds like an awesome acid party! :pimp
But where are the pics and why wasn't i there?

iSpyCams 10-12-2010 02:46 PM

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Johnny Depp and that Existenz guy both did a great job filling in for their dead brokeback butt buddy.

Also that psycho Tom Waits plays a pretty cool Devil.

Far-L 10-12-2010 02:55 PM

Gilliam makes movies for acid heads

I love that movie. However, it certainly is a love it or hate it movie.

Much better than Grimm though imo...

Adventures of Baron Munchausen

my fav of his

docputer 10-12-2010 06:28 PM

I watched it for about 90 minutes, and was fighting staying awake. I ended up heading home, and of course the first thing I was told later was, oh, you should have stayed, the movie got really good.

I agree. Dr. Parnassus put me to sleep.

mightyjoe 10-12-2010 09:29 PM

Terry Gilliam had a campaign before called, "will direct for food". And now they give him a chance but failed again.

I like his movie about a retard and a small girl, forgot the title

Big time disappointment... the trailers/etc looked awesome... even throughout the movie it appeared to have a lot of potential but overall it just sucked... couldn't wait for it to end.

Yeah, I wouldn't even bother...

I've recently read that "Time Bandits" has been released on blu-ray, that's a Gilliam movie you should be watching...

Agreed
Parnassus was disappointing, but I loved 12Monkeys and Time Bandits.
