Does De La Hoya Really Deserve Having His Own Statue At The Staples Center?
I know The Golden Boy is an incredible boxer but honestly do you really think he deserves his own statue next to sports greatest players, Magic Johnson and Wayne Gretzky? Especially after losing to Mayweather and of course his embarrassing loss against Pacquiao this past weekend :disgust
|
Sure, Because now he is retired.
|
yes.
top earning boxer in history. pretty good role model - both wayne and magic have lost plenty of games |
I need something to practice tagging on.

Yes, he shouldn't of been made to box that last year or two, but looking out over his career he does deserve it
|
i think he was a world champion in 6 different weight
he probably deserve it lol |

It's odd in the sense that he's never won a fight there...
|
at least in LA they put statues of real boxers outside the arena.
|
Last Friday was REALLY disappointing, but from a girl's perspective, he does have the hotness factor ;o)

Not sure to be honest. It's up now though so i wouldn't let it bother me...

The only reason he has boxed the past two years is because boxing is going down and MMA is the new guy on the block. Boxing is pretty boring in comparison and the numbers show it is fading. There are hardly any stars left in the sport and he is the only big name guy that brings in the dollars. Once he retires boxing will not be Americas top combat sport anymore.
|
Definitely. he wouldn't be called a "golden boy" without the history and achievements he made.
