Best car chase on film: Bullitt

I saw Bullitt again for a class and its still the best car chase scene on film. The roar of the Charger and Bullitt engines combined with the craziness of San Francisco streets is unrivaled.
Its amazing McQueen did the driving and that the director was laying in the car for the interior car shots. They kept it real.

That's some old school shit right there!

Just dont ever watch the car chase scene from the end of the original 'Gone in 60 seconds'. its about 15 minutes of right turns and tire screeching.

Spunky 12-06-2008 07:47 PM

That was a classic for sure

Pretty sweet

No CGI needed. I wonder how many people that lived on those streets were watching the chase as it was being filmed?

Check out this one from the film "Master Touch." I was flipping channels one day and saw the car chase, looked up the DVD, and bought it for something like $3. :1orglaugh

The film itself is pretty crappy but it was worth it just for the car chase... it's not sensational in the classic sense, but there's some pretty funny things in it. :winkwink:

Count how many times he changes UP gear. And how many times you see the green VW beetle.

I got Vanishing Point after buying an 09 Challenger, the whole movie really is just 1 long car chase..

EthnicLover 12-07-2008 02:29 PM

There are definite inconsistencies but the screeching, revving and insane turns are worth any shortcomings. I watched it on a large theater screen in a college auditorium, which made the chase scene that much more enjoyable.

Jacqueline Bisset is easy on the eyes as well.
