H.con.res.445
To find this, I had to search for the word "obscenity" at:
http://thomas.loc.gov/bss/d107query.html (in the 1. Word/Phrase portion) ------------------------- H.CON.RES.445 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION Expressing the sense of Congress supporting vigorous enforcement of the Federal obscenity laws. Whereas the Supreme Court in Miller v. California, 413 U.S. 15 (1973) held that obscene material is `unprotected by the first amendment' (413 U.S. at 23) and that obscenity laws can be enforced against `hard core' pornography' (413 U.S. at 28); Whereas the Miller Court stated that `to equate the free and robust exchange of ideas and political debate with commercial exploitation of obscene material demeans the grand conception of the first amendment and its high purposes in the historic struggle for freedom.' (413 U.S. at 34); Whereas the Supreme Court in Paris Adult Theatre I v. Slaton, 413 U.S. 49 (1973) recognized that there are legitimate governmental interests at stake in stemming the tide of obscene materials, which include-- (1) protecting `the quality of life and total community environment' (413 U.S. at 58); (2) protecting `public safety' (413 U.S. at 58); (3) maintaining `a decent society' (413 U.S. at 59-60); (4) protecting `the social interest in order and morality' (413 U.S. at 61); and (5) protecting `family life' (413 U.S. at 63); <snip> ---------------------------------- What the fuck is that all about?! :321GFY I see it's not a bill fixin' to become law, but what exactly does a Concurrent House Resolution accomplish? Are these like "personality sticky notes" for the gummit's "public face" or what? |
That is some scary shit. I dont know what it is.

Homeland Security - John A shhh hahahahaha Attacking recreational drugs I can almost understand (still disapprove of any prohibition - but can understand). This renewed assualt on Porno from all angles though... shit. Porn, to me, is as down home as apple pie. Even mom knows about what I do. :) These religious freaks need to get themselves a more productive hobby -- or a vice -- and sit the fuck back already. :disgust |
Its the ultra right convservatives. They do this constantly hoping one day someone won't notice. The ACLU, thank god, is very vigilant when it comes to protecting the 1st amendment, and jumps all ove shit like this.
Christ, the stuff you see and hear on MTV these days could be defined as obscene. Ya know society has changed so dramatically in the past several decades so much most of the younger webmasters have no idea how far "left" we've come. There was a time when the Networks had a major uproar about Lucy as in I Love Lucy appearing on her show pregnant. When they wouldn't show Elvis gyrating below the waist on the Ed Sullivan show. When Playboy started to show muff for the first time. Thank god all that bullshit conservatism is long gone. |
For now on, every politician must have no religious bigotry -> he must be an atheist.
What has caused more harm to human civilization? Porn or Religion? I think the latter has killed off several hundred million people over these last 4000 years and I am counting the Crusades from the "beautiful, true" Christian religion. If I ever see Ashcr0ft, I'll spit in his eye that mother-fucking sack of hardened man-juice. |
