Animal lovers, step inside

Ok, lot of threads here about hunting, animals suffering etc...

I think we all get the point that fucked up things are happening and that we all have different views on what is acceptable and what's not.

My cat Carlos died recently, see pics below.
http://www.sensehost.com/~dutchbri/pics/Goya.JPG - day I got him

Recent picture before he died:

Somebody kicked Carlos in his head, or this is what the vets believe. One of my other previous cats got shot. Both these cats died a slow death, the cat that got shot (with airrifle) got put down in the end because vets didn't know why he was so sick. After an autopsy they found the bullet that had gone through his intestines. Carlos got put on meds and the doctor told me to take him home, if his situation would go backwards it'd mean he'd die. He did die at 7 the following morning. I'll post a video later to show the pain he was in, even though it's hard for me if I still have it.

Is someone here that we all trust - a big animal lover, maybe Lori, willing to post a paypal and other type of ways to donate money? We could all chip in and raise a bunch of cash. Would be cool to see a video of the things done with our money alone making animals lifes nicer that have been abused. Hate seeing threads about animals in pain, lets make a happy animal thread for once. I'd post my paypal but I don't have a good camera nor do I know any real animal shelters or animal police. I'm sure quite a few people here do have good contact with places like this. :upsidedow

Ps. If this is a stupid idea, tell me. I'm just sick of seeing all this cruelty. I'll be donating $50 (not a wowload amount of money but I don't make a lot)

Thanks :)

He was a little energetic monkey when I got him from the pound. Was in a cage with his brothers and sisters. He was the only one that was interested in my finger, he climbed the cage door like a monkey haha, really do miss him. Will post more pics after I wake up. Time for a nap. Have to get up in 1.5 hours.

The vets might be wrong but it definitely was a head injury with no real visible damage - so wouldn't of been a car for sure. But sick people are out there who get a kick out of seeing living animals suffer. It's a fucked up world...

That's a great idea Sam, but I'm not sure you'll get a huge amount of support from GFY ... there's as many 'cat on fire' movies posted here as there is porn!

I run an animal rights website and work with a few groups here in Australia but generally its a very disjointed movement. ASPCA is the best place to start to find local shelters in your area ... every $50 helps, and you adopting your pets from the pound in the first place is the BEST thing you can do. But you could also help a great deal by volunteering at your local shelter or pound. All of the animals that people abandon have to be taken care of, brushed, cleaned, cages swept, food provided etc etc

I am going to ask for guests to my xmas party this year to bring along a tin of pet food to donate to a shelter nearby. That's a nice easy way to get people involved without asking for cash or too much.

You can also lobby your local politicians in regards to animal welfare laws ... WSPA recently took a petition to the UN to attempt to get animal rights defined in the same clear way as human rights. Find your local independant politician who has a passion for animals and see if you can help out ...

Hope that helps ;-)

I am so sorry about your cat. I think Lori starting a fund for animals would be a great idea. She did a wonderful job raising money for Ina. Plus if you can get everyone on here to donate, that would be some major cash.

What a sweetie... tuxedo kitties are the best...especially the boys.

There is a sweet kitty at my cats' vet now that came in with head trauma that they feel was from a kick or a blunt object. He is blind in one eye now and had some swelling initially that caused problems. He's now the roaming clinic kitty and everyone wants to take him home.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I think anyone that harms an animal or a child should have the same thing done to them 1000 times over.

cj purve, I've actually done voluntary work at a shelter. But they treated me like I was a criminal. Probably thought I was doing community service for a crime... I did get a satisfaction out of helping the animals but the people treated me like crap...

It'd also be cool if it's a large amount of money raised so you can see more happening as a joint effort. Toys, nicer areas for the animals to be in and other necessities bought with the money. And a video of it being delivered and the animals getting it. I could donate $50 myself to a local shelter but I want to try and get other people involved here. Animal cruelty is and will always exist. But lets try and help some animals have a nicer life.

Lori is probably the sweetest person on gfy and who I'd trust the most, never even met her in real life but from what I see and hear from other people she's awesome. However, I can't make her do this and maybe she is busy. I've noticed other animal lovers in here too that have a good reputation. Whoever is willing to help out, please post..

Hi sam, That sucks that you were treated badly - I get the same thing in the animal activist circles because I am not a vegetarian. Its funny how much some do gooders judge others for doing good differently than they would like. But you shouldn't give up on doing something you feel passionate about just because you had a bad experience with 1 place ...

I can see your point with the raising money and seeing what happens with it etc - I rarely donate money to anything anymore because I can't see where it goes except in sending me advertising the next year asking for more money!!!

FreeHugeMovies 12-03-2008 10:42 PM

I would stop allowing them outside.

JamesK 12-03-2008 10:47 PM

Damn, sorry for your loss bro.

I fucking love cats and everyone I know, including myself have one. I don't allow them outside though because I hate mankind and I know how fucking evil people can be.

I wish I was there and could catch the coward who did it, so I could fucking torture and kill him. Shit like this pisses me off.

Sorry to hear about your cat. I have two 13 year old cats and know how you feel...

Machete_ 12-04-2008 11:49 AM

Please - DONT do a online collection thing.
Find your local animal shelter and help them. give them money or ask if you can help them with anything.

Take responsibility for your pets. Treat them as animals, and not as kids.
They depend on you
