I may end up having to go custom..

If I were you, I would just go ahead and get a custom job done as long as you can trust your coder etc.

I don't have a coder at the moment.. I really don't have time to do all the design and spec docs to pass on to a coder.. I'm still hoping to find something installable that just needs some design/css work..

If I had more time I'd definately go completely custom.

Yeah I hear you on that. With a project with what you are looking for I still think taking your time and going custom is the way to go. Save yourself time down the road.

always get something custom.....or at least buy a script from a programmer who insists on doing some custom modules/modifications for your particular site

pros and cons to that sorta thing...

if you get something custom made for you, you're going to either spend a shitload of money, or have an inferior product. So, depending on the funds available... decisions to make :)

And even if you do go through the effort/money of getting software made custom for you, and you flat out buy the code... anytime you want to make a change, you'll need a coder to make those changes for you. Which means either going back to the orig coder, or finding someone else. And any new coder is going to have a hell of a time with another persons code, cuz that's just how life is.

Or then you could hire an in-house coder to maintain your needs... then you've got those bills to pay and more than likely not enough work to give him.

That's kind of a random list of things off the top of my head... prolly jumbled up and nonsensical, but either way... more exist, and a bunch others that don't even matter :)

Either way... we are working on a very styled solution, and all will be revealed at the proper time.

Custom is really the only way to go with a site of this kind. If your interested in my programmer, he's an Ex adult Programmer specialising in Mailing scripts. this is a walk in the park for him .. I should have the admin up by the end of the weekend
