yes... very nice ... people are friendly ( well,maybe not the provincial border guards ) ... great food, great rhum ...

I went to Isla de Margarita, which may not be Venezuela proper, and it is very nice.

Very very very touristic ... Might as well go to Ft-Lauderdale ( aside from the whorehouse on the strip of land advancing in the Ocean ).

You can do both by staying just outside of Cumana ( mainland ). Margarita is a 15 minutes flight and the cost was about 30.00 return ...

In Marguarita, go to the other side of the Island, la playa agua ... amazing place.

Do Not stay in Puerto La Cruz, it is a big sewer ... :2 cents:

Beautiful country, friendly attractive women, good food, good nightlife and cheap gas. I try to go there every year and visit family.

Well as a venezuelan living here I can recommend Margarita, Los Roques (a tad more expensive) if you are looking for beaches. You can also go to Morrocoy National Park for nice beaches.
But all those places are gonna be slammed with people during christmas. Personally, I try to go off season. Less people and more room for you in the beach.
On the other hand, more people = many more hot chicks.

Plus, with the price of the dollar in the black market here you can have a very nice time very cheaply.
