Shooting in hi def-encoding questions

I shoot new videos in Hi def ( wide screen) so it has the black bar top and bottom...is there a way to crop it out when encoding to make the scene full screen

umm, yeah I know how to do that...... but I'll let someone else tell you so I don't look too smart and all.........

YEAH RIGHT, I can barely aim a camera, much less do anything else with one. If it isn't point and click, I am an idiot. :1orglaugh

if you're shooting HD with an HD cam there shouldn't be a black bar top and bottom. you only get that shooting SD at 16x9 in my experience $.02

and yes I know how to crop it out in vegas video. instead of cropping on the individual clips, crop for the whole track, then you can pull it in however there might be resolution issues.

bradley is right there shouldn't be any bars at all with HD... I'm guessing you're encoding in the wrong format.. check your settings and make sure you're in HD mode and not in some forced widescreen mode.

What program are you editing with? (btw if you're using vegas make sure you at least have the 8.0b upgrade, that could be the problem too)
