Content Guys - Best consumer level HD camcorder??

I was all set to buy the canon HG20 camcorder
http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=CNVHG20

but then I was reading up on the file format it uses to record to it's drive "AVCHD" which seems to have lots of issues with being able to keep the HD going through editing stages, lots of problems having to convert it back and forth and end up with less than stellar hd content.

So what is the best consumer level HD camera so I Can edit the videos and keep everything eye popping HD for down the road?

that is the same exact camera, just with upgraded hard drive and viewfinder, both record the same AVCHD files and everything else is the same.

Don't mean to argue, just been studying this all day, the HG20 according to the review sites does the following recording settings: 1080/60i, 30P, or 24P frame rates.

Just keep leaning back towards the canon hv30 cause it uses tapes and it seems to be easier to work with and keep full-rez HD.

I think the hg 20/21 has a high rez but whatever you feel comfortable with is what you should use.i have been playing with the hg10 in sony vegas and rendering is longer but not bad.
