I've seen that statement on numerous sites and it's all bull shit. The content was shot on a digital camera, back then there were no digital cameras we could afford.
To answer your question, yes you can buy pre 2257 content. I have tons of pre 2257 content with 2257 documentation. The magazines I worked for were a very careful about things like IDs and model releases.

A statement from a studio that it was all shot before 1995 is worthless if the shit hits the fan. Without 2257 documents you don't have a clue when it was shot.
