Because youtube is slowly adding shit like movies. And not movies from dipshits with camcorders, Hollywood type movies. Most home movies in the future will be widescreen anyways. Most home movies are going to be played on TVs. Those TVs are going to be widescreen now aren't they? So why not shoot in widescreen?

I understand the appeal of widescreen, I just don't get why they don't size the player for each individual vid. The millions (billions?) of videos on there to this date aren't going to magically change into 16:9 anytime in the future...
