What is the best way to fight inflation in the US ??

As a miser I am usually quite content with any financial situation and feel superior to the fools who spend all of their money (plus more). If you happen to be one of those fools please don't post here. If you happen to save money, but don't have so much money you can afford to not pay attention, I would like your advice. How do you plan on countering inflation in the US?

Normally I would say buy a rental property, even if you don't want it, and use it as a tax shelter while you are at it but houses are dropping in value.

I think you might have more of an issue with deflation in the U.S. in the near term rather then inflation. :2 cents:

With inflation you want to own property, but as yys said, you are more likely to hit deflation. In that case, own and loan as little as possible

Gold and silver coins. They can't be called in by the government and always have a stable value.

They hardly have a stable value. Gold prices have more historical price volatility than the S&P 500 and the S&P 500 has had higher hostorical returns.

I have no debt and have a lot liquid. Deflation would kick ass.

work online, so no matter where you live you make the same, move to some 3rd world country (preferably with a nice white sand beach) and live better.

This deflationary period will not last long. There are too many dollar bills being printed. Inflation is around the corner. Gold and silver would be your best bet if you believe that inflation is bound to happen.

Buy funds that invest solely in gold or other precious metals. It will take YEARS to wrap up the current economic mess, recession, "panic", whatever label you want to use.

Gold and Silver Coin values aren't determined by the price of gold and silver on the exchange.

doridori 11-27-2008 08:49 PM

nevermind the ignorant turds man.... im glad you brought this up.

basically the #1 thing should be to abolish the federal reserve, and problem solved for inflation....fed reserve acts nothing but a cartel for banks.

lazerbunny 11-27-2008 09:17 PM

we're going to start giving away gold bullion coins for joins.

IllTestYourGirls 11-27-2008 09:43 PM

Yeah you have to ask yourself why there is such inflation and deflation and who controls such things and why they control it and why they want to inflate or deflate then you will come to the conclusion that the fed is not your friend.
