fuck vista, going back to xp

Tired of alot of stuff i use that wont even work in Vista64, so I'm going back to Xp Pro.

Question is, what about the software that I've installed that was downloaded from the net, and only works on one computer? I dont want to pay again when I reinstall it on the new OS.

Whats the solution?

OTerror 11-26-2008 05:43 PM

the solution is osx

TampaToker 11-26-2008 05:44 PM

I see everyone say this but i aint yet had any trouble with it :2 cents:

You obviously dont use ultramon with 3 monitors.

And thats just the most annoying one I can think of right at this moment.

Its the evening before a holiday weekend. I dont want my ultraedit and other apps not working all weekend long.

qxm 11-26-2008 05:55 PM

I once thought of saying "fuck vista" and then going back to xp but the main reason I left XP is that whenever it feels like throwing a BSD you get fucked up... I mean...everything works beautifully and fast too but that blue screen of death fucked my days back when I used XP ... I haven't experienced that problem with vista... at all....

I guess u gotta use what works for u....

Have you tried the 3.0.3 Beta ?

New in this release

New mirroring feature: the mirroring feature is now available on Windows Vista as well, and has several new modes, in addition to mirroring one or more monitors, you can mirror only a single application, part of the desktop, or the area around the mouse pointer.

HomerSimpson 11-26-2008 05:58 PM

I'm afraid you'll have to install it all over again yourself...

The taskbar does not work correctly with three monitors.

I think I may have found the solution

this: http://www.spearit.com/transfer_method.html

plus my USB hard drive...

AnalProbe 11-26-2008 06:09 PM

Go for TinyXP, only 400 Mb on your disk, and blazing fast.

JD 11-26-2008 06:11 PM

and in comes the Vista fanboys...

Sounds interesting. Has any functionality been removed that you would prefer to still be in place?

Guitar Hero III, and Left4Dead

I did manage to fix ultramon... I had to uninstall it, then install verson2.5, uninstall that, then reinstall version 3.0.3

Vista sucks, my friends asking me to uninstall it and install XP back all the time :)

DannysReviews|com 11-26-2008 11:14 PM

Weird, I've never had any vista problems. I like the fact that defrag is automatic. I like the backup features. It just seems solid. Of course I'm using a hacked version of Vista (edited to perfection) I have a valid key, but this build of Eternity works much better than the standalone.

PornMD 11-26-2008 11:20 PM

Meh, there's about enough features in Vista to outweigh the drawbacks and the pain in the ass it would be to uninstall it and put XP on the comp. I've thought about it and am staying with Vista myself. Good luck though.

stickyfingerz 11-26-2008 11:38 PM

Its the 64bit that is giving you issues, not Vista. I run dual monitors with no problems. :2 cents:

d-null 11-26-2008 11:43 PM

moral of the story is to get rid of Vista and install XP the day you buy a new computer, and save yourself all the headaches :2 cents:

Yeah I ran dual monitors with no problems as well. But everyone seemd to miss the part that I was having problems running THREE monitors.

3 monitors.

what vid card? Why run ultramon? Nvidia has nice multi monitor support. The only thing I don't like on Vista as far as multi monitor stuff is you can't have the task bar stretch across all screens. Something you get used to after a while.

KillerK 11-27-2008 12:31 AM

Just get 2 30" displays and you won't need 3 screens.

Also, the 64bit version of Vista is shit, everyone I know that tried it went back to XP.

I run the 32bit version of Vista and have no real issues except it seems a bit slower then it was with XP. I even have the 9650/4gigs of ram/raptors in raid 0/geforce 9800gx2

I suppose XP is still much better then vista

I never left XP because of all the backward compatibility drama with Vista. I'm glad I never left.

I like my 24" widescreen in the middle and my two 21" widescreens turned vertical on the sides. Cant do that with just 2 monitors.

Both my cards are nvidia - a 9800gt and a 8400gs

Each screen having its own taskbar, desktop, and wallpaper is why I run ultramon, plus the cool little button to switch a window to another screen instantly.

But like i said earlier, I fixed ultramon by uninstalling 3.0.3, installing 2.5, uninstalling that, and then reinstalling 3.0.3

Dont ask me why, but it worked.

Uninstalling Vista is really easy.
format c:/s
Insert WindowsXP CD... Follow the onscreen instructions... Takes 45 mins

tranza 11-27-2008 06:58 AM

I don't like vista either!

LA Crew 11-27-2008 07:22 AM

Vista is not bad but its way too bloated. Looking at the hardware requirement, it's just overkill.

Dagwolf 11-27-2008 09:38 AM

I'm still on XP Pro... :) or should I say finally? I stayed on Win98 until about 2 years ago.

yulp or xp lite i use both.

SteveHardeman 11-27-2008 11:13 AM

I was having nothing but problems with Vista. What I did was back up everything to an external hard drive and then reloaded Vista from the disk they provide. Completely wiped my internal drive and reloaded just the OS. Didn't allow any of the factory installed apps to get loaded.

Since I did that, I haven't have one problem with Vista.

brassmonkey 11-27-2008 11:36 AM

i think ill down grade and if it fucks up ill reinstall vista my warranty wont let me downgrade

tranza 11-27-2008 12:52 PM

Kill all your problems by using MAC! The best solution, but unhappily we can't leave windows...
good luck!
