Do you buy used products?

I myself buy almost anything used much rather then buying new. You can buy almost anything with near new quality around where I live due to a hugely popular buy and sell site that the entire country knows about and uses.

Like my huge L-shaped design work table, it's a beautiful table in red mahogny with a quality feel to it. New it would have set me back about $3000 but with a little bargaining I managed to buy it for $250 from someone who just did not need it anymore. Nothing wrong with it a few scratches here and there but overall very high quality. Same goes for my TV, perfect samsung LCD with excellent picture, got it at 30% of what it would usually cost.

Some things I would not consider buying used though like matrasses and other stuff that might be non-clean but I guess that goes without saying.

I am also a big fan of flea markets and garage sales. I think my attraction to used stuff is not just the fact that it's cheaper but also the hunt and the satisfaction of finding something you really like is a big part of it.

Do you buy used stuff or enjoy brand new every time?

Sure but I draw the line on fleshlights

Yeah it's always best to let someone quality test the rubber first.

Scott McD 11-26-2008 07:51 AM

I usually always try and buy new.

Even though the cost is more, i just don't like not knowing who's had something before me, or what's happened to it before..

Antiseptics are your friend.

moeloubani 11-26-2008 08:13 AM

andy83 11-26-2008 08:25 AM

used undies.. o.O lol

tony286 11-26-2008 08:36 AM

nothing wrong with used stuff. I have bought lens, tables and cars used. In fact I made a mistake buying my last car new, I will never do that again.

There are lots of things I figure someone else has test-driven before I got to it new anyhow - clothes get tried on and put back on the rack all day in retail stores, for example. Regardless, anything that's pre-owned is getting washed/ sanitised/ bleached/ and so on before it enters rotation in my house.

sure, sites like kijiji.ca are great.

woj 11-26-2008 10:00 AM

For some items it makes sense, for many it doesn't, often this bargain hunting is a huge pain, many times it's not worth the drama to save 50 bucks...

bbm 11-26-2008 10:34 AM

It's funny how stuff made a bunch of years ago outlast stuff you bought 1 or 2 years ago.

brassmonkey 11-30-2008 08:43 AM

yeah sometimes i buy used

PSSuperstars 11-30-2008 08:46 AM

I'll do refurbished electronics.. that's about it. And only from the big names... Hubby got us 4 Sony RA's a few years ago on ubids.. They were refurbs..... when Dual Core first came out.. and those PCs still outperform any new PC we've bought.

We're big believers in karma... and the chance that something has bad karma attached to it.

My ex-gf came labeled as "new" but I soon found out she should have been branded as "used", I sent her packing.

VeriSexy 11-30-2008 04:42 PM

HorseShit 11-30-2008 04:47 PM

candyflip 11-30-2008 05:47 PM

Spunky 11-30-2008 05:48 PM

I buy lots of stuff off Ebay.some great deals on boots etc

eroticsexxx 11-30-2008 07:19 PM

Books. Most definitely.

ultimatebbwdotcom 11-30-2008 08:12 PM

Depends on what it is but half the time you can guarantee that people have impulse purchased and its just sat there for most of its life collecting dust. Camcorders/cameras are classic examples of this as are bowflexes, mountain bikes, golf clubs, musical instruments......ad infinitum.

Trixie 11-30-2008 08:28 PM

I loved used stuff like books, vintage clothing (especially shoes, which I'm sure grosses a lot of people out), dolls, etc. Anything that has a personal history to it that someone has touched and been part of their lives.

I don't mind used electronics, but I prefer to get those things new. I did just buy a used microphone off ebay (hasn't gotten here yet so not sure if that was a mistake) but if money were no object I definitely would have gotten it new.

There are some things you have to get used because they're not made anymore -- a lot of older stuff from yesteryear is higher quality than newly made crap.

Trixie 11-30-2008 08:36 PM

Wearing some of my favorite used antique shoes:

http://www.trixie.com/tgp/Trixie/Bla...OnUs037228.jpg

It's actually a turn-on to me knowing a woman (or women) has/have worn them and sweated in them years ago. I especially love the wear on the soles, imagining the women walking on the street to have lunch or go to work or go shopping -- or get fucked.

New shoes are so sterile, poorly made (compared to shoes you can buy for the same price used), full of chemicals, and rarely come in my size.

@ kandah, where in Sweden can I buy a USED Dish Antenna like this one? I know these kind of monster Antennas are rarely used but I bet there is someone out there who would like to sell theirs. :thumbsup

K R I S T E N 12-01-2008 02:41 PM

ive never really thought about it...but i suppose if i found something used that looked and felt new i would go for it!

czarina 12-01-2008 02:45 PM

I love flea markets where you can go antique shopping and such, but in my area there just aren't any. So I'm forced to buy new.
