I'll have to next time not rush out and take a tripod. I didn't know what to expect though. I didn't want it to rain as I was setting up for a 13 second exposure. Maybe tonight I'll go out again but with the tripod this time and do some really nice 100 ASA 30 second exposures at f/22. I was hoping to get the water to look silky. The water was actually raging right here.

Love them!

You did a great job of the water in the first image. Looks like a silk sheet being laid down on a bed. Very cool.

DWB 11-26-2008 11:56 AM

I was fucking a black hooker with DD titties at 3am.

Nice pics shoe. Should have called me, I'm always down to be a co-pilot. I can fuck a black hooker anytime.

I'm not worthy... I'm not worthy.

Having a Quantum X pic posted in here would be an honor.

Thanks Munki.

Sorry I couldn't make into the OC. I did make it 10 minutes south though. I went all the way from North Hollywood, to regular Hollywood.:1orglaugh

I also find it funny that you say "nice pics" after I posted the most depressing picture I've ever taken. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

JockJuiceContent 11-26-2008 12:52 PM

baddog 11-26-2008 12:56 PM

At 5 AM, everything is black and white.

LOL

But no seriously, I didn't know it did color. I thought I had to pay for an upgrade for that.

V_RocKs 11-26-2008 01:08 PM

Pick me, pick me!

So long as we bring a cooler with beer.

Bring the camera over, I can do it for half of what the upgrade would cost.

quantum-x 11-26-2008 01:28 PM

The B&W is cool. Shooting at ISO 3200 at colour is going to make it look like rainbow spots - and at 3AM, yellow tinted rainbow spots :)

Obviously we were both restless last night ..

more thumbs up for getting out in the morning :)

RedShoe 11-26-2008 01:46 PM

Fuckin amazing man. Nice work.

What were your settings? You shot that at 3200? But in color?

I never tried that. I didn't have a tripod with me so I figured B&W would be best since the light was so many different colors I didn't want it to be too distracting on the contrast of rainy night pics. And by the time I got out, there was no more rain. :(

Nah, they were shot at ISO400 f4, ~4s each.

I think you're right though, getting a nice balance of colours + light at night can be hard, esp in the city - most of the time it just burns into yellow.

Was curious why you were shooting at f22 though?
Surely you could drop it to f8, have the same DOF and shoot at something like ISO 800 for the same results, but less noise?

The composition of the above shot is brilliant, btw :)

munki 11-26-2008 02:12 PM

Sometimes the most depressing scenes can be the best looking... we've def got to go out for some city shots sometimes...

I love graffiti hunts!

I shot that first pic at f22 so I could increase my exposure time. I was trying to make the LA River look like a smooth, silky sheet. I know in the daytime it'll look like a cloud, but I had never seen what it would look like at night.

I think for the next rain, I'll shoot it with at f22, but then go up to 100 ASA for less noise. That should let me do a really long exposure. Especially at night, should look interesting.

And thanks for the compliments. Coming from you it means a lot. Your work is always very inspirational :)
