Adult iPhone App Gets Apple Nod!

Adult iPhone App Gets Apple Nod, Then Taken Down

This story was released on Xbiz today. We are getting closer and closer every day to adult content on mobile devices becoming an every day revenue stream.

CYBERSPACE ? Wallpaper Universe didn?t make it very long as an iPhone application. The software, which allows users to post photos of nude women as wallpaper, didn?t make it past the weekend after making its debut.
Apple Inc. may have been purposely trying to test the market for such content, Harvey Kaplan, executive vice president of wireless development at BustBox Media Inc., told XBIZ.

?Somebody who was in the approval department thought the content was passable,? Kaplan said. ?This looks like a corporate decision. Someone blew the whistle on this and that is why it got pulled down.?

A write-up posted on website ReadWriteWeb.com makes an argument that Apple?s review process may be flawed. The approval and then quick removal of Wallpaper Universe exposes a ?giant gaping hole? in Apple's review process.

The article raises the question of whether Apple ?intends to keep users safe from illegal and malicious applications, those that are bandwidth hogs, and those that raise privacy concerns.?

Above all, however, Apple apparently is hesitant about adult content on its sought-after smartphone.

?Apple won?t reveal what goes on behind the scenes with their approval process, a process that often takes weeks or months,? according to the article. ?But this incident almost makes you wonder if there is one blurry-eyed guy sitting at a keyboard, clicking ?approve, approve, reject? all day as hundreds of applications arrive for approval.?

Apple will not do adult on their phones, it's just not gonna happen. Hell man I know of a company that made a boxing game for the iPhone and was using political and famous characters and Apple wouldn't approve them. They had to switch it to anonymous characters to get approved.

The approval process is currently based on inside connections, there are former apple employees who are starting there own development businesses 100% around iphone apps and cleaning up. It's gonna take a long while unless someone can send some quality talent over to apple HQ to suck a bunch of iCocks.

What's the upside for Apple?

They have an amazing brand image, growing marketshare, and the media loves them. What's the upside to them allowing porn? A few bucks?

This was not a post about BustBox (my company) it was a post about an Adult Iphone App. I have no idea who you are as I have never came across an Email or a phone call to my office with a complaint that had your name attached to it. I have been around for about 10 years now so allow me to give you a little bit of advice. Before you go and publically slam a company on board make at least make an attempt to contact them off line. My phone number is 816 777 0353 that way we can at least try to figure out what the problem is and how to solve to your satisfaction it rather then going back and forth airing dirty laundry in a public forum. If you don?t want to call me Email me [email protected]

Not really true.. or at least it's not stopping developers from getting approved. I know of several companies whom have been approved as well as several individuals that are hobbyists.

Well good for the few you know, sorry but that was the inside info I was given from a multi million dollar mainstream development company who has been shut out repeatedly.
