Hey Forest, there are some very worthy children's charities here:
http://www.childrenscharities.org/ In Australia I like to donate to St Vinnies, AngliCare, The Smith Family, Bernardos, The Cancer Council and usually anyone that turns up at the door. Most of the time it's teenagers or younger kids collecting and it means sooo much to them to know they are making a positive difference! |

gotta help the animals. A donation has been made to your friends shelter. Hope it helps. :thumbsup |
hungry people right in your neighborhood give them the money like this 100% of your cash goes to the needy not 1%
family and neighbors first! |
a friend of mine owns GiveaToyGetaSmile.org
it's a charity that gives toys to poor children and orphans in Mexico. Very nice of hers, since it takes a lot of her time and it's not like Goodwill that brings the CEO tons of money. If you'd like to help, check out her website. It's a small scale thing, but it helps the very poor children of Yucatan, Mexico a lot. This Xmas I will be involved in it. My Spanish is pretty decent so I may be helping translate in addition to other help. |

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, there is a HORRIBLE civil war amongst over a dozen different rebellious factions. They rape the women, but take it to an extreme...20 or more men at a time, keeping them as sexual slaves, sticking machines guns up them and tearing the walls between their rectum, bladder and uterus, so they drip urine constantly (leading to their family, friends, society to ostracize them). There is a hospital that repairs this type of damage, but the waits are long, as in months, years, etc. Anyway, Women for Women helps survivors or war rebuild their lives. Also work in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda and Sudan. |

The Shriner's is a definite list topper. My baby brother was born with a hole in his heart, he was at a childrens hospital here in GA for a week before he died, the Shriner's footed the bill for my parents who were just starting out and could not afford it at the time (31 years ago). My dad went on to do quite well for himself and has probably payed them back 10 times over since with donations. The Shriners are definitely a great organization that help families in need.

There are many ways to sponsor a kid, 22 USD a month can help save the lives and give education to children in Africa and other third world countries. You don't have to sponsor a specific kid although it is highly inspiring to know their advances and such, you can also make one time donations. :) |

I donate cash and hair to Locks of Love. They provide hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
It's about time for me to get my hair cut and donate it. It takes a year to 18 months to get long enough to donate. |
Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer
http://www.imusranchfoods.com/ Plus the food is pretty tasty and the cleaning products work. |
