Require physical possession of one of these security devices in order to complete a transfer, load or withdrawal. When you press the button, it displays a unique number that is already known by the remote service.

This would get rid of just about all hacks since the number changes every 30 seconds. It's impossible to function without it.

I have one from HSBC and one from Paypal

Will it ever happen at epass? Hmmm

What about sending an auth code to mobile via SMS?

quantum-x 11-20-2008 05:10 AM

RSA dongles have been around for decades.
Quite interesting devices - simple but incredibly effective.

All banks in Croatia have that for a long time already. But epass is not bank.

My bank has an even simpler method. They sent me a small card with a sort of grid with coordinates that point to a specific number.
So any time I go to make a transfer or something they require you to enter the number for a specific coordinate, say A6 which might be the number 64.
These cards are randomly generated and only you have them. Simple and secure.

very nice indeed!

I bet some people still get confused. :Graucho

How about marrying the ATM card with the keychain device... press a button on your ATM card and a unique, time sensitive security code appears. No extra bulk to carry around.

Yoohoo epass... epass???? :pimp

How about this.... Stop getting hacked! Not Epassporte but you guys with the problems!

Every single case where someone had shit stolen from the account it was found that someone else got hacked or the individual did. What the fuck is Epassporte supposed to do? Use fucking common sense and stop being a fucking douche bag and you won't have these kinds of problems.

Most often what happens is a sponsor gets hacked. Happens ALL THE TIME. They use open source forums or calendars or what ever they are using and since it is open source hackers scour it looking for hacks that no one else has published.

Now that they have the DB for the sponsor they run your epassporte ID you gave to the sponsor and the password you used for the sponsor and 50% of the time they get what they wanted. Access to your account at Epassporte because you didn't use enough sense to have a different password for a money account.

Another scenario: You surf your trades looking for new trades and you end up trojaned by some monkey fuck in Asia. He gets to watch what you are doing in real time and now he has your secret questions for Epassporte. Of course he doesn't even have to watch you because he just needs to download your auto-form data from your browser.

Stop getting hacked and you won't lose your Epassporte money.
