Who knows Colo hosting?

Hey guys, anyone got an opinion on:
http://www.dedicatednow.com/

It looks pretty good to me but I haven't played the hosting game for like 4 years so I'd be interested in hearing what ya'll non-dinosaurs think...

quiet 11-08-2002 12:15 AM

strange. fletch's post just disappeared...

m0rph3us 11-08-2002 12:17 AM

traceroutes over about 5 networks. horrible ping times. trying pinging them. Prices seem very high. also they resell for pwebtech according to tracesroutes.

Brown Bear 11-08-2002 12:18 AM

I dunno who they are, but judging by the amount of time it took for their site to load I wouldn't use them.

quiet 11-08-2002 12:19 AM

yes, very slow-loading.

MarkTiarra 11-08-2002 12:22 AM

Oh yeah - I saw it said pweb right on the main page. The speed wasn't slow at all from me here. I guess that kind of thing always depends on your route to a place from where you are at.

MarkTiarra 11-08-2002 12:23 AM

Thanks for taking a look, btw.

Damn you caught that?

Looking threw the logs for this fine evening i find gofuckyourself.com listed as a referrer, most amusing name. Anyways after reading these posts. DedicatedNOW is a subdivision of pegasus(pwebtech) and for your speed test freaks check out

speed.dedicatednow.com to trace
and
speed.dedicatednow.com/uumap.tar.Z
for a nice download.

Speed.dedicatednow.com is the network segment where the servers are hosted at.

Thanx Alot guys..

quiet 11-08-2002 12:41 AM

hmm :glugglug

MarkTiarra 11-08-2002 12:45 AM

Okay, how about this one?

http://www.mehost.com

It's in the same building as far as I can see but this one comes up slow for me. What about you guys? Doesn't make sense unless it's just a slower box.

I used to have a small facility that I virtual hosted from... had servers at Exodus here in NJ and I was up on what server hardware was best, etc... Now I don't know what's better over another all that much. I was away from all biz for awhile then I kinda came back strong with the design stuff back in June.

I'm just virtual hosting at Mach 10 down in Austin. Also have stuff with my good old friend Stephen of www.janey.com fame.

Cool good luck in finding something.

I use http://www.webair.com and http://www.cologroup.com

quiet 11-08-2002 12:56 AM

i've got a pile of boxes with candid hosting. i'd also recommend looking at national net (R3K's icq is 101121675), isprime, cavecreek and flyingcroc (though flyingcroc is pretty expensive).

m0rph3us 11-08-2002 12:58 AM

mark, what facility were you at in NJ?

I have a friend who does 6Gbps with Exodus in NJ.

dedicatednow 11-08-2002 01:00 AM

Dave, does 6GBps with Exodus now CW. He also has a GigE to Internpa, nac and williams. Nice, guy, we have a few providers in common.

It was in Jersey City right on the River. We had a 10 megabit line. THe speed was great but the prices where whacked and when the lady CEO took over she was very anti-adult and we ended up with all kinds of problems. Incorrect billing, etc...
