From my experience, Pidgin just sucks. Crappy successor to GAIM. I'm back to using Trillian.

Varius 11-19-2008 10:18 AM

Pidgin sucked, it kept losing group changes.

Trillian kept showing half my list as numbers most of the time.

I'm now using Digsby and it's solid so far, keeps my name/group changes, and also lets you plug in facebook, gmail, etc...

chupachups 11-19-2008 10:23 AM

Pidgin beats the shit out of those two. DONT use anything else. Install the extension packs and get a perfect IM.

Digsby was ALMOST good enough for me to stick with it. Major problem for me was the way it logged convos, and your ability to search through your history. I am running Trillian now again, but still flip back to digsby on occasion. But ya it should be in the list. Its VERY close to being "the" client.

u-Bob 11-19-2008 10:33 AM

miranda here :)

Max - RiotDesign 11-19-2008 10:35 AM

I´m stuck with Adium on mac, but on pc I´d have to go with Trillian... anyone tried the new Trillian Astra btw?

For a company that seems to almost corner a market, ICQ sure sucks horribly.

Why make it work when you can add more flash bullshit to bog down millions of clients computers? I think that is ICQ's business model.

Oh and while your'e at it, please add more advertising, and make the message window cover 1/4th of clients computer screens. No, do NOT allow it to be resized smaller. Duh! Oh and NO do NOT make it so our servers actually DELIVER messages sent to offline clients. Why that would be madness!!!!!! The moment you give people what they expected in the first place, you're fucked!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!

ICQ Had EVERYTHING years before all the other IMs, and if I AOHell didnt fuck it up it would have had 90% of the market. :2 cents:

hornycult 11-19-2008 01:03 PM

Adium on Mac, Trillian on Windows :winkwink:

D Ghost 11-19-2008 02:05 PM

I've tried them all - they all have ridiculous issues, none do it better than plain old ICQ (even though it's still sluggish sometimes) for PC... if you are on OS X use Adium

Klen 11-19-2008 02:09 PM

I using miranda pack moded. For some reason original non moded miranda always have icq timeouts.

Bird 11-19-2008 02:48 PM

fuck they all suck, that's why I switch when I get tiered of them. I have them all installed on my USB, http://portableapps.com/apps

Oh yes... And it makes me regret the day I switched to Trillian. I just keep sticking with it though because I don't want to lose my logs.

peedy 11-19-2008 03:09 PM

Used Trillian a couple years ago and it was pretty solid. Now on mac I use Adium but then tried Pidgin on my laptop still using windows and its a lot better then gaim ever was.

$5 submissions 11-19-2008 03:12 PM

I'll check out digsby. Trillian still fucks up from time to time for me.

I personally like meebo.com, web based and never had any issues with it at all.

WebairGerard 11-19-2008 03:50 PM

pidgin on windows and adium on mac. prefer adium.

kane 11-21-2008 02:10 AM

I tired trillain and had endless issues with it logging me out of ICQ and not logging in properly. I tried pidgen and liked it, but was told it sent out very annoying messages to my contacts so I dumped it. I just installed miranda and love it. Lightweight, it seems to work well and isn't sluggish. That may change as I work with it more, but for now I am pretty happy with it.

elglorioso 11-21-2008 02:23 AM

digsby rocks, but they dont have a mac version yet :(

HomerSimpson 11-21-2008 03:01 AM

Trillian
