Hi Should I get a website up the rankings at google
I help with two sites and one is just not being listed on the first page.
It has just been revamped and Is there anywhere to get more info on what is the best course of action.
I have read about the google bots and meta tags may prevent these bots from crawling the site.
should the meta tags be in there or not as I am reading different things, we are new to all this so any help would be great
would love some feedback from anyone in the know.

that is the million dollar question... :)

1. content is king
2. interlinking is queen
3. link exchanges with relevant websites never hurt any listing
4. nobody really knows what Google wants

Content and Traffic are Siamese Twins that share a crown.

Lin exchanges are more important than you think.

and the only thing you need to know about what google is doing, is DONT listen to people that work for Google.

Also do an XML site map, submit it to Google. Use Google analytics and see where your site is in terms of traffic and searches...

aim for keywords that aren't quite as competitive, you will never rank page one for "porn", but you might be able to get page one for an easier niche keyword group

What everyone else said...Also, remember that SEO is a medium to long term strategy. Meaning, you aren't going to optimize your title tag and submit a site map and *poof*, rank number one for the keyword or keyword phrase.

Patience is very much a virtue when it comes to SEO, but it pays off in the long run.
