Blogging for buzz -- social traffic generation
 

Usually, I blog based on mid-tail keywords (and longtail too if I send PPC traffic to it). Lately though, I've noticed that posts that focus on controversies and unwittingly create them get quite a bit of traffic. Traffic that converts. Do you guys employ this as well? What patterns (traffic sources/referring pages) do you see or do you shoot for?

i have a custom wordpress plugin that posts to all the major social bookmarking sites, i can pick to post to one, or a list of them all in the backend or none at all.

I think I know which plugin you're referring to.

Critiques and reviews of an "authority" blog do well (specially if you post the link on a forum) but the fine line between a critique and just plain 'player hating' is a thin one.
