The whole point is that it's a donation, with a chance to win something... but yea, if you are looking at this as a form of investment, it isn't a very good one...

This is probably bad way of explaining it, but:
chance of winning a car is 1 in 2000, car is worth 200k, so each ticket is kinda then worth 200k * (1/200) = $100

so you invest $150 and get back $100
