vapewiz 11-14-2008 10:35 AM

Yeah was really good i wish that chicks man beat Vic's ass. I bet that place is a shit hole in a month after Ramsey left.

The Duck 11-14-2008 10:41 AM

whats the ep called, fiesta sunrise?

BradM 11-14-2008 10:48 AM

I love this show.

Deej 11-14-2008 10:48 AM

FUCK!!!! Did i miss it last night?

Elli 11-14-2008 11:19 AM

That one was intense! The daughter's husband was priceless.

And yeah, it seems that they just don't know about basic food safety or how to run a restaurant in the US. Maybe that kind of stuff passes in Mexico, but not in Nyack. What a mess :(

OMG Jim 11-14-2008 11:33 AM

Think about all the people that had previously eaten at that place and the former restaurant they had to shut down. Now think of the mexican restaurants you've eaten at!

After seeing all that dirt and slim in the kitchen on last nights show I am sure some of their previous customers probably threw up a little in their mouths watching it.:Oh crap

As this is a "reality" show I realize a lot of it is scripted but that guy reminded me of a really stupid version of Horatio Sands from the Saturday Night Live television show. :1orglaugh

Still it's good entertainment especially for those that have been in the restaurant biz. :thumbsup

Just Mike 11-14-2008 01:00 PM

HBKKH 11-14-2008 03:26 PM

and most of the crap run, filthy scum restaurants on this show for the most part have been Italian

Yeah I doubt they make it that much longer after the makeover. They were 850k in debt and despite the turnaround, I can't imagine too many who watched that show wanting to go in there after seeing the roach problem. The real problem they had was no leadership in the kitchen, just a bunch of underpaid lackeys who didn't know how to cook anything.

If the show follows its previous season, it will do a follow up show where they go back and see what is up a year latter or whatever. I think last year only 1 place did not maintain its recovery.

Spunky 11-14-2008 06:39 PM

That kitchen was disgusting..garbage can full of beans lol

Yeah, they profiled a couple of them on the followups. I remember the seafood one with the mom and son, they sold out three months after Ramsey left. The hard part for this Mexican food one is that they had built up a reputation for bad food and had very little extra money for marketing. I just don't seem them surviving very long without some very aggressive marketing to overcome the poor economy. Who knows though, this show was taped back in Feb, so maybe if they are still around they'll make it.

Yea, I find it a little odd that Ramsey only notices a bug infestation the day after the service in which he points a lot of other nasty shit out. How could he NOT have seen? Were the cockroaches all in hiding or what?

The show IS funny and Ramsey IS the funniest cussing man alive just about, but damn...just wish they wouldn't go to extreme lengths to portray the restaurants as the worst in the world and keep things real.

That said, Hell's Kitchen is a much more entertaining show IMO.

You would be surprised to know that MANY kitchens are exactly like that all over the world and I wouldnt doubt that it was every bit real. Those people have no right to be in a kitchen.

collegeboobies 11-14-2008 08:54 PM

That place was disgusting, I'd sue the fuck out of that place

dready 11-14-2008 08:58 PM

Sue them for what?
First you would have to go there, eat there, then get sick from the food (or hurt) and then finally prove it was the food that did it. Which is damn hard even if the place is dirty as you can catch bugs from touching anything anywhere that got you sick that day.

Good show but the UK versions are so much better.

I think people are just required by law under the punishment of death to say that about all shows that were in the UK first.

Sly 11-14-2008 09:20 PM

I am always left wondering if I go to any restaurants like that... you never know. Kind of scary really.

Well I think the trick is this I think.

High turnover of people would typically mean a higher turnover of food. So more busy a place is the better your chances. Does not guarantee hygiene but well I think it helps some. I also notice none of the places he visits seem busy when he goes there.

I have always accepted that there is a chance my food is fucked up when eating out. Then again I have eaten in many other countries where sanitation is not of the highest priority and well never died.

Not always true but in this case its far better. Check it out if you get a chance. Food network plays it and I think so does the BBC. Ramsey does them and its just more real and less of the Fox production.

I don't miss an episode of either but no question I far enjoy the UK version better.

Supz 11-14-2008 09:50 PM

i watched it last night. that mexican place was disguisting. i laughed when he threw everyone out because they food was too gross

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 11-14-2008 10:07 PM

when i was just out of highschool, my roommate and i worked nightshift at a grocers warehouse that supplied food to restaraunts. some of the shit i saw happen in that place turned me off eating alot of things in a restaraunt. MUSHROOMS ESPECIALLY. the mushrooms ar ekept in those open top cardboard boxe son a pallet. w ket our mushroom pallets on the corner on the way into the freezer room. they were constantly getting knocked over. we ket a granrly looking scummy scoop shovel right beside them we knocked them over so often. we'd just scoop the fuckers up and fire them back into boxes and ship them out. so a lot of similiar things happen like shipping out meats with broken seals, passed due date milk, all sorts of damaged produce... the food service industry is revolting from day one...

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 11-14-2008 10:14 PM

my typing blows ass in the above post

pamon 11-14-2008 11:17 PM

both episodes were great last night. Ramsey FTW
