R.I.P. Mitch Mitchell

One of the greats of our time passed away today, I can imagine the jamming taking place right now up there with Jimi! :(

RIP Mitch

RIP Mitch

WOW!! The unsung hero of The Experience. RIP. Ya know Jimi was never the same creatively after he started Jamming with Buddy Myles in Band of Gypsies. Also it was Mitchell who came back to help piece together 'Cry of Love' with Eddie Krammer after Jimi died because he was one of the only people who understood Jimi from a musical stand point and what he was trying to create.

Very true.

The whole "band of gypsys" affair was a little bit forced as far as it's rumoured Jimmi was under pressure to finally create and concert with an all black band. Billy Cox was his old buddy from the army, then they added an all star drummer Buddy Miles. I like the record a lot and "changes" is one of my all time favourite songs.

But compared to his original Experience works I would say it's different - more intense / political and less relaxed / inspiring / experimental.
