That's how things are going. we make daily requests for Alexa reach/mil data for 8k sites. ~5k of them have enough traffic to get Alexa index.
The first chart shows summary data for all paysites with Alexa r/m index (SBDti), and the second one shows summary data divided on paysites with index quantity.

Are you familiar with http://www.pornresource.com/

no, we aren't

we also take different approaches for our statistics.

Signbucks Daily uses only Alexa reach/million data, which reflect traffic each site has in the best way. Other Alexa indexes such as views and rank are not representative. Alexa views index shows how many pages were viewed, but different sites have different structure what doesn't allow to use it. Alexa rank = k*reach*views which is completely unrepresentative.

alexa sucks and is no good for any stats

fuzebox 11-13-2008 10:28 AM

Interesting how your top 10 sites all happen to have iframes under their main domain that affiliates embed in free sites :)

Shap 11-13-2008 10:41 AM

You should use google trends instead. I find it to be much better. Especially since you get traffic numbers instead of %.

MrDeiz 11-13-2008 11:29 AM

when we tested GT it was not so effective

but we will check it again tomorrow

40 Inch Plus doesn't even update anymore and it's in the top five traffic sites?

Machete_ 11-13-2008 11:38 AM

alexa stats are worthless - period

MrDeiz 11-13-2008 01:37 PM

for some period of time we will use both of them: Alexa and Google Trend.
so all we'll clearly see which one is more correct.

i hope we'll launch it on these days

Alexa is based on the small group of people still using that vintage toolbar
Google Trends is based on the worlds largest searchengine

Let me draw you a picture

Those are both ships - Alexa and google both have stats.
That is about as equal they are

Google Trends however filter out all inapropiat keywords, so you will never get a accurate estimate without having access to the core stats.

In other words - the data you are using for your "marketing" holds close to ZERO value or relevance
