Veteran's Day in Canada [PICS]

A few shots I took earlier today of the ceremony at the Cenotaph in St. Catharines (Ontario, Canada) in honour of Veteran's Day/Remembrance Day.

We laid a wreath on behalf of the Commissionaire Corp. of Canada.

To all the veterans both past and present - a heartfelt thank you for your sacrifices and service to our country.

Very true.

Heard on the news tonight that Canada is down to its last surviving WWI veteran - John Babcock, 108 years old. I can't even begin to imagine fighting/surviving WWI and then living to be 108.

That's beyond remarkable.

That was one of the bloodiest wars in human history. My grandfather fought at the battle of Vimy Ridge, got 5 pieces of shrapnel in his chest. Lived to be the ripe old age of 82.

Respect. :thumbsup

My grandfather served in the Merchant Marine in the North Atlantic - and I had several great uncles who fought in both Dieppe and the first landings on Omaha beach....a couple of which were killed in action.
