why AFF pisses me off

The one thing I really hate about AFF is that they reduce your percentage payout when your traffic drops by a certain amount

Since the start of this recession, I have had to cut back on many traffic buys that just don't make sense anymore

Of course this affects the amount of traffic I can send AFF.

I only buy premium search engine traffic and the volumes are low but the quality is (or was) very high.

So here I am trying to promote my sponsor, and they kick me in the nuts by reducing my percentage just because I cant convert traffic as well as I used to be able

Just sux

HorseShit 11-11-2008 03:46 PM

honestly, I've had better luck with other programs over AFF just my 2 cents

WiredGuy 11-11-2008 03:48 PM

I thought the percentage goes up if you send more traffic / profiles. So its not really a decrease in percentage, just no longer getting the bonus rate?

Besides, I think that percentage is just on the initial sale, not the recurring, right?

HookUPcom 11-11-2008 03:49 PM

Keep HookUP.com in mind... Getting very close on our affiliate program... converting great! AFF is certainly impressive, no question about it... however, the chance of someone hitting your paid ad, and then hitting someone elses paid ad, or affiliate link 5 seconds later is probably pretty high.

gday WG

Yes the percentage is on the recurring, and it is shown as a bonus if you keep traffic up

But keeping the same amount of traffic up when you buy traffic (like I do) in these conditions is certainly making me consider dumping AFF

I know I am just small fry to them, but I wonder how many other people are in my shoes

collegeboobies 11-11-2008 03:54 PM

Wow that does suck

The percentage on recurring isn't fixed? I thought it was just the inital that goes up and down based on traffic. I didn't realize the recurring was variable too.

the only thing I hate is not enough cougars on there

HookUPcom 11-11-2008 03:58 PM

Have you just tried to ask your affiliate manager? Some times all it takes is an email... "Hey I'm having a hard time right now... Things are tight... Any chance you can help out with my commission?" You might be surprised.

brassmonkey 11-11-2008 04:02 PM

i dropped aff they took my money away said not enough conversion

Talk to your rep, you'd be amazed at what can happen sometimes when a little communication is initiated.

what do you expect from a company who almost single handedly supports the stolen content tube sites? you think they have ethics in one area of the business but not in another?

g$$$ 11-11-2008 06:17 PM

Dan...hit me up. I can work out something with you.
We have a couple of sales tools we are launching within the next month or so which should really help boost ales--and in turn, more commission to you!

fris 11-11-2008 06:19 PM

you be better off promoting a less saturated dating site, will make more in the long run

moneybiz 11-11-2008 06:27 PM

well I made 260$ today make you should do pps?

dropped9 11-11-2008 06:47 PM

Best bet is to talk to your rep. If they cant help you move on.

react 11-11-2008 09:15 PM

Can't be too hard to find 100 uniques/day somewhere to keep your recurring ticking. The tiers on initial orders are a little harder to work with. But as suggested you may then consider the PPS.

I used to have a webmaster buy nocookie traffic off me to prop up his AFF click levels.

Iron Fist 11-12-2008 12:53 AM

I tried AFF running it in spots that were available (which is rare... but i needed to fill it with something) so I thought I'd try it out... now I don't know what the issue is, but not ONE FREE JOIN after 1,200 clicked hits to the site.

This is CLICKED thumb traffic, no skim... you have got to be kidding me! Never again, don't bother replying AFF, i'm out. Seriously.

budz 11-12-2008 01:12 AM

25,917 106 $81.41 = % program
1,972 44 $68.80 = PPC

:: shrugs ::

thanks for the idea Elli, but previous emails to CS at AFF have gone unanswered, and I am not expecting that to change

OMG - that is sooo lame that a webmaster has to resort to doing that just to make a buck with a sponsor

I put some more traffic at AFF, but the $$$ I used to make with them just isn't there anymore

I'm sorry to hear your emails haven't been replied to in a timely manner, Dan. I'll pass this message along.

The Evil Dan I remember is a stand-up, generous, intelligent guy with integrity...

RayBonga 11-15-2008 07:21 AM
