Do men have drama with co-workers or only women??

In all the years I worked, there have been a couple of people I didn't like that well but we just did our jobs and there were never any real problems.

Everywhere my wife has worked, (mainly in offices with a lot of women), it is constant drama, manipulation, jealousy, gossip, being two faced and the list goes on.

She works with gay men also and says they are just like the women in that area.

Every night I have to get the rundown on who is saying what and causing what problems and who was on their period today.

Anyone else notice this??
And why do you think it's like that?

Sly_RJ 11-07-2002 12:04 AM

Does GFY ring a bell? This is THE drama board!

Well, I work from home and I am friendly with most other women in my business, however they are EXTREMELY catty. They are always talking about one another. At the same time, the men I have business relationships with (in phone sex) really are just like women, they LOVE to gossip. This is my experience. :glugglug

It's not just in business, it's everything.

Women + gay men love drama.

its just a fact that woman can't get along,
there always on some kind of competition,
and love to talk bout each other behind their
backs,,

LOL

I hate drama, I don't know how people can work like that. I used to come home and talk about what I didn't get done, or problems I was having with different situations...

But... I think I forgot what my wife even does for a living. But I know everything about every person in her office and their families.

I was starting to wonder if it was my wife that was causing all the problems at work. :)

I have worked in several factory type jobs and several office jobs
both had the same problem with the women.

they would group up in little clicks and bitch and moan about the other little clicks - it drove me nuts

the only place I worked that did not have this problem was a machine shop where everyone but me was black. all the women there got along just fine - maybe it's race thing I dunno

jules180 11-07-2002 01:12 AM

women- about other women co-wokers.... she is trying to destroy me...

appleboy 11-07-2002 07:57 AM

believe it or not men are just as catty , they just don't try to look like it, ask any police officer or better yet look at politics

TazBo 11-07-2002 08:30 AM

Rock daddy I hear you. Every night when I get home I have to listen to that shit. Oh she did this, oh she did that. Now when I have had enough I just raise my hand and she knows to stop right there. Some days I dont even let her begin. It's just a bunch of crap. I tell my wife just do your job and dont get caught up with the shit but she just cant help it I guess.

Its not just the work place man - its where ever women actually conregate. My girlfriend lives in a college suite with 4 other girls and 1 bisexual guy (mostly gay) and there is nothing but constant gossip, etc. Women are constantly comparing themselves to other women so this naturally just occurs. Its retarded.

LOL, yeah, I'm where I almost completely tune it out. I look at her with an interested look on my face but my mind is on something else. When she's finished I have no idea what the hell she's been talking about.

Why is this? They are always trying to size each other up. lol

RockDaddy 11-07-2002 09:36 AM

And I noticed the prettier a girl is, the more the other women don't like her. haha

Maybe some ladies can shed some light on this for us.

lol, thats exactly what I do. Only problem is she will ask me something about what she was talking about and I have no clue because I was'nt listening. Sometimes this can cause a little fight because she thinks I dont care about her problems at work. Then I tell her, ya your right I dont give a shit about some catty bullshit at your work. Then she usually storms out to another room to call one of her friends that will listen to the shit.

I can certainly relate to this thread,

My first job was as a storeman in a supermarket, There were 4 young guys (we basically just unloaded the trucks and shifted the cartons around so the women didnt have to lift anything heavy)
and about 20 women of ages ranging between 18 and 50 all management and supervisory staff were also female.

I cant think of one woman there that you would have called a lady though if you saw what went on in that place LOL

Pretty much every woman over the age of 25 would constantly bitch, whine, complain, verbally fight with or at each other, they would often change both friends and opponents weekly and the verbal arguments and backstabbing were a daily occurrence.

Oh yeah, and nearly all of them swore like troopers when not in the publics eye :1orglaugh or within earshot of their husbands if married.
I learnt words, phrases and saw malicious practical jokes from these women that I'd never even heard at school and my school was rough. LOL

It was dead set like being in one of the female prisons you see on tv.
:winkwink:

The guys never lasted more than a few years in that place, the stress was unbelievable, from not only that mentioned above but one manager or supervisor would tell you to do one thing and then another would come along and say "I dont care what she said I want you to do this !!" then sure as hell, the first one would come back and rip into you for not doing what you were told to do and put you back onto it again, and on it went, again and again :BangBang:

I've worked with many women since in other fields both alongside and as their manager and yes, Ive always found that If you have more than 2 in a workplace there will be bitching and tears.

Having said all that, I much prefer to work in a mixed sex environment , a workplace with female employees is always a brighter place, you just need the right combination of personalities if you are dealing with more than a few I think :thumbsup

RockDaddy 11-07-2002 11:28 AM

I think mixed enviroments can have their good points. The guys seem to make sure they are shaved and showered on a more regular basis when working with females and aren't just walking around passing gas whenever they feel like it. lol

I've only had one female employer in my life. It was not a good experience for me. Even though I had been in that business for many years and she was new into it, she knew everything and wouldn't listen to anything you suggested. That was interesting what you were saying Shark about your female supervisors.

Any other guys here ever had a female supervisor??

What would you say the differences were between having a male supervisor and a female supervisor?

Don't be afraid to share your experinces also ladies.

One thing about a male supervisor. There never was one week out of the month where you tried to avoid him at all costs and I've never seen a male supervisor break down and cry for no apparent reason. :)

That's when I revert to "stupid". lol with answers like...

I don't know, that's a tough one.
What do you think you should do?
Wow, I can't believe that.

Or just look like you are seriously thinking about it for a minute and they'll usually get off on another subject anyway. haha

Wow, sounds like the exact place I last worked at, in 99.

:1orglaugh

Not to mention it was a live sex studio, things were totally nuts. If my boss was not such a fucking asshole I would have stayed longer, sometimes I miss the insane drama.

On second though, fuck that place! :1orglaugh

irisPornKings 11-07-2002 11:40 AM

i've had drama in every place i've worked except now,
and it's always been with gay dudes or women. i worked at a software company-- had trouble with my gay officemate and the married women who loved him. at a hotel restaurant-- the most stressful nights were when the girls worked, they were always picking about something and the best nights were when it was all guys. at a flower shop-- serious favoritism with the gay owner and his pet gay designer. as a phone girl for an escort agency-- the number one girl thought i was trying to steal her man.

really, what am i supposed to say when all the chubby ladies at work are gossipping in the bathroom, i walk in, and the biggest chubbiest one looks at me and asks, "do you want some of my fat?"

like, um, no, uh.. you're not fat... um, i have to pee.

anyway, no drama here so far, the other girls here all seem pretty nice!

E-Randy 11-07-2002 11:41 AM

All this shit is so damn true. Problem is that when she starts telling me all the shit at her job, I begin to think it's her causing the problems. Then when I try to reason with her about how she might be taking things to seriously she says that she doesn't want to be "lectured", sometimes she just wants someone to listen. Either way, I lose, so I just keep my mouth shut. Except for the occasional "uh-huh" or "oh-yeah". Still you guys are luckier cuz my girl is a dental hygienist and she works in 3 different offices which means 3 TIMES MORE DRAMA... Geeezuz

PaulSweet 11-07-2002 11:46 AM

Watch some TV aimed at women like Soap Operas etc and then you'll see what entertains them..... Drama.

RockDaddy 11-07-2002 11:48 AM

I think that sums it up pretty well, they take everything too seriously and even go so far as to try and "read between the lines" and invent stuff that's not even there.

Guys, will say to each other, "What's up dipstick?" and the response will be "Not much asswipe, how about you?"

Girls, will say, "Good morning, you look nice today", and the other girl will think "what the fuck did she mean by "I look nice today, like I usually don't or something, that bitch is up to something. lol

Then by the time they get home, the story has "evolved" into a women plotting to take her job or something.
