when is the best time to run a tv ad?

I've got a two week slot paid for, now I need to pick out when to run it. (Non adult, obviously).

Should I do it week 1-2 December, week 3-4 December, or week 1-2 of January?

Depends on the demographic you are trying to target. Didn't the ad company give you a list of viewer stats?

I.E. there is a reason why you always see Art Institute commercials at a time when you should be at work or in school, but are instead at home watching TV.

What niche are you targeting or what the hell sorta product is it? That alone will help identify your best time of day ....

I'm starting to think maybe you just want to know what week slot, I would go with Jan. after Xmas.

IllTestYourGirls 11-11-2008 11:00 AM

what are you selling and the target?

The best time to run a TV ad, is when the most people are watching Television...:2 cents:

If I could.... :D

I'm targeting professionals 25-50. Decision makers for larger companies.

I was actually hoping someone had already done some research like this and could link me to some stats or something.

Anyone?

first of January or 1st of December, end of december everybody is broke and won't spend money.

Well in retail, the week after christmas is often referred to as "the 13th month". Because sales are SO HIGH that week, that it's the equivalent sales volume as a June or a July.

People often wait until after christmas to spend. Or they return gifts and have new money. Ask anyone in your family who works retail in a mall or electronics or other large destination. It's packed.. temp holiday help is usually not let go until the end of January for a reason.

These are why I said last week dec, 1st week jan. Or just the first 2 of jan. IF it's a product.. if it's a service, then who knows. Only you know what item or niche it is, so any advice could be void right out of the box anyway.

Yeah...When I get to stay home and watch The Price Is Right, I love watching the Hover Round Chair commercials :thumbsup

I would go with January...My "theory" would be that people aren't obsessing about holidays, travel, etc. and can allow other info to enter their heads.
