Uncle Sam's do-over $152.5 billion for AIG

AIG had to go back to the FED and ask for more money.

Quote:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Troubled insurer American International Group got a reworked $152.5 billion deal from the federal government Monday, as the Federal Reserve and Treasury Department made significant changes to the terms of the company's original bailout.

The Fed announced that it will reduce AIG's original $85 billion bridge loan to $60 billion, cut the interest rate by 5.5 percentage points and extend the borrowing period to five years from two years.

In addition, the Treasury will use its special authority under last month's $700 billion bailout law - the so-called Troubled Asset Relief Program - to purchase $40 billion in preferred stock.

When do you just hit the point where you let them go out of business? We just keep giving them money over and over. They obviously can't survive on their own.

Good point, I also would make it the whole executive team works for a dollar a year til they reach real profitability. Like Lee Iacocca and Steve Jobs did.

Someone needs to pay for their private on-campus employee only amusement park.

And it's worse than that ... many of the same companies being bailed out are still paying out MANY BILLIONS in bonuses.

The bailout gravy train has left the station without brakes on a downhill course out of control with average Americans in the path, being crushed to pulp, when it all crashes!

Americans are getting bent over the table and anal fucked. I really can't believe the lack of anger over this "bailout".

Invoices obtained by Mr. Waxman's committee showed that AIG spent US$139,375.30 on rooms, US$147,301.71 for "banquets," and US$1,488 at the resort's Vogue Salon, which offers manicures, pedicures and hairstyling. The group spent US$6,939.09 on golf, US$2,949 for gratuities, US$5,016.32 at the StoneHill Tavern and US$3,064.71 for in-room dining and the lobby lounge.

The group booked the resort's 3,100-square-foot Presidential Suite for US$1,600 a night for five nights, a discount from the standard rate of US$3,200 a night, a hotel document released by the committee showed. It also paid US$1,075 in "no-show fees."
