I find it ironic that people rant on about tube sites, and how necessary it is to give away free content, when 90% of my pages are SE pages with only ads... The way it's meant to be.

The problem today it seems, is that too many surfers are becoming webmasters (or pseudo-surfers)
In the early days the majority of people in this biz were from the audio text business, or other business people who saw the web as a way to make money. These people knew how to make money, and it wasn't by giving away gobs of free porn.
Those people are largely gone now, they've made their millions and moved on to other things. The majority of free site owners these days are people who started out by surfing The Hun and other similar sites, and decided they wanted to make something even better (better from the surfer's perspective)
We appear to be in an all out race to the bottom these days.
The purpose of a free site is to make money. Money is made by selling things. Your goal should be to have a visitor click an ad and buy something as soon as possible. :2 cents: |
