the guy's led a great life - a combat pilot, a prisoner of war under the worst conditions, tortured beyond what most could tolerate, a prominent United States senator for almost 3 decades, and at 72 when most people are sitting watching game shows all day long or in poor health a grueling run for the highest office on the planet that would exhaust a 30 year old ..........

throw in a rich beautiful much younger wife, children, and a mother who is still alive and very well .........

i fail to see how being a "prisoner of war under the worst conditions, tortured beyond what most could tolerate" is a great life ? i would call that a "low point " but hey thats just me.. I'm not saying he doesn't have lots of great things going for him, just pretty sure i wouldnt switch spots with him.

I think McCain was the fall guy, although I'm not sure if he knew it or not. Face it, after eight years of Bush the odds of another republican getting in the White House was a long shot.
