Rahm Emanuel
So do you like him as Chief of Staff? Some of my Republican minded friends are really afraid of him, and throwing out his father and "Irgun" as the main reason now. Nothing at all about his policies of views. Just about his father and Menachem Began.
|
He is my Congressman. He has done a pretty nice job for our district. Not sure if he'll make a good Chief of Staff, but he comes across as a smart guy to me.
|
Have you read his book? Was thinking of picking it up.
|
Don't know a ton about him but the guy is very intelligent and from what I have heard him speak about I like. He will be Chief of Staff seems like a great choice.
|
He is tough as nails.
|
I like him! :thumbsup
|
whats his history ?

Interesting article about Rahm Emanuel and his brothers and father.

looks like a good choice to me - driven, intense and tough.
so a black President, a Jewish Chief of Staff, there will surely be a woman and a black or two in his Administration - so I figure a homo, a Hispanic, and a midget will be coming soon. |

Does anyone have confirmation? I heard he said that he wasn't even asked yet, but then hours later he accepted? Getting conflicting reports on this.
|
Lol his brother is the real ari from
entourage!!!!!!!! |
He seems like a really sharp, incredibly intense guy. A lot of people on the hill owe their position to him. He should be able to get shit done behind the scenes.
The only thing I don't like about him is he discourages all D Representatives from going on The Colbert Report. |
Oh and they call him Rahmbo.

I'm curious how blind Obamazombies define the word change?
Filling his cabinet with the same old zionists and CFR members is change? There will be no real difference between a Bush admin and an Obama admin, the plan is going ahead full steam now. |

Being my rep, he is good. I like having a pushy asshole in Washington getting shit done for my district. But I don't like him as Chief of Staff. I thought the whole Obama movement was to stop the partisan bickering and politics as usual. Those are two things that Emanuel is.
Unless they're going for a good cop, bad cop thing. |

The dude is a tireless worker. Not to mention he's sacrificing his longer term career to be chief of staff so I think he wants to really be a part of history making changes.

Are they going to repeal the Patriot Act? Are they going to get rid of Bush's 2007 executive order giving the president the ability to declare martial law for any emergency? They're not going to get rid of these things, they're going to expand on them. |

Is that what passes as tough as nails nowadays? :helpme
" the night after Clinton was elected, Emanuel was so angry at the president's enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting "Dead! . . . Dead! . . . Dead!" and plunging the knife into the table after every name. "When he was done, the table looked like a lunar landscape," one campaign veteran recalls. "It was like something out of The Godfather. But that's Rahm for you." " http://www.rollingstone.com/politics...6/the_enforcer How long until some of you realize that Obama is a Neo Liberal and very similar to McCain ? |

a moderate on what? Core issues like foreign policies, globalization, bailouts of the banking system and wall street, wars, size of government, amnesty for illegal immigrants, etc..? Or is it on something else? |
hes the same guy I would have picked. hes tough, dedicated, and knowledgeable of the issues. And he fits the obama model of being disciplined.
I would look for Obama to find more conservative picks for defense and treasury and Sec. thats my prediction. but if we learned one thing from the campaign, obama knows how to run a tight ship. There simply is no one better qualified for chief of staff. |
ROFL the nutjobs are starting to come out of the woodwork.

About a week before the election I was listening to BBC world service (which has been particularly excellent lately) and stumbled onto a feature that was a panel show with a BBC political reporter and four of the most recent ex-chief of Staffs. It was really interesting to hear them talk about their take on things and what their job included. They talked about how they got approached for the job and what they had to go through to qualify, etc. If I didn't already respect that job I do ten times over now. They all got on with each other too btw even though they were of different parties because they said there were very few people around that have lived their lives.
