I am saddened to see that Prop 8 is not going to pass-

To all my gay brothers and sisters...D$ excluded lol

I am sickened and sad to see this.
I voted NO on Prop 8.

I feel it's discriminating and wrong.
I am ashamed that so many Californians' are such bigots.
Prop 8 will pass in the next election. I feel confident of that.

As a native of Ohio, I am happy to see that they came out to vote for Obama yesterday.

I just despise all these Vote Yes on 8 people that had been waving their signs on every street corner out here.

They all looked and acted like Hitler Youth.
Newport Beach is full of them.

If you are gay and live in Orange County- I'd urge you to move.

Cory are you listening?

hahahaha

j/k kidding Cory.

I agree.. I was sickened by the younger people out on the street corners with signs around here... I do not understand it at all... How can we have a time for change and a black man elected president yet still have such homophobia... Its really sad.. :(

Fucking mormons waved their hate banners hard in OC...

seeric 11-05-2008 10:39 AM

as we drove past the prop 8 supporters on the street on ventura boulevard, i said to my lover in the car "honey blow the horn to support the cause", he said "do you really think i should?" i said, "be proud" and he blew it away. 50 feet away down the street some mean spirited young man threw a brick threw our window and yelled "die buttranging homos, you're killing california." what a terrible misguided world we all live in now. i made kb get me home as fast as possible.

the end.

I did something very reckless the other day. I stopped my car in the turn lane, turned my flashers on and said to one of the 11 year olds dancing and smiling on the side-walk holding a YES on 8 sign high "You have no idea what that means. Go tell your pastor and your parents they are sick people for me, can you do that?" He said "Oh... okay."

That story made my eyes water.

lol do you guys even know what you are talking about? The reason prop 8 did not pass had nothing to do with gay marriage. Its the fact that it did not pass last time and a few powerful judges are tying to get it passed anyways and amend the state constitution. We must protect our states constitution and not let judges get too much power. If this passed what would be next? Let the voice of the people be heard not the voice of a few judges. If they take it to the ballot again and win that just means a few powerful judges are in total control. Unless you guys want to live like China or something and have you lives controlled this is a bad idea.

I do however think gays should be allowed to marry, I have no problem with it but jeez if the people don't want it they don't want it.

Kudles 11-05-2008 10:44 AM

I totally agree

i know this is an issue of verbage but it looks like Prop 8 *IS* going to pass, as in it's been voted yes on by the majority. If it didn't pass, gay marriage would still be legal. :2 cents:

lesbodojo 11-05-2008 11:16 AM

I just posted about this in another thread. My partner and I are devastated.

Rochard 11-05-2008 11:29 AM

So much for the liberty and the pursuit of happiness.... Because if your gay in California, you don't get to have either.

It's a very sad day really.

_Richard_ 11-05-2008 11:50 AM

are you kidding/ it fucking passed?

it passed. what a fucking hypocritical shame.

I know 5 people who didn't vote, 3 of which have someone in their immediate family who is gay and they decided to take a back seat because they are lazy. That makes me more sad than anything.

But lets all be honest. If prop 8 passes it will get tied up in litigation. Taken to the same supreme court judges that stated that it was a constitutional right for Gays to marry. These judges will most likely prove that the prop is unconstitutional.

I doubt this battle is anywhere near close to over.

Agreed.
I just hate the fact that these mormons and religious zealots went to great length to say how it was wrong to teach homosexuality in schools.

It was never about tehm teaching this in schools.
But when you think about the fact that kids are having sex at ages 10 and 11- they are not in incubators.

There is a real world out there, and it doesn't consist of just holy rollers with their talking snakes and their speaking in tongues. It's about reality.

What will these people vote against next?

Teaching Judaism in schools?
talking about Buddhism?
Muslims?

I know it's a stretch, and we are talking same sex couples and not religion here, but think about it. It's about a collective approach on censorship and allowing these people to keep their kids' heads buried in the sand is not a prudent argument.

These people simply don't believe in Free Speech and are discrimating, hate filled, Jesus fearing, Luffewaffa's

Darkland 11-05-2008 01:27 PM

Especially in this supposed era of "change." It is sad that we have to create laws to make sure that we let people with different thoughts or lifestyles know it won't be tolerated and that their equality in life will never be allowed as long as they refuse to get in line like good citizens and live the way they are told too.

Cory W 11-05-2008 01:32 PM

Orange County sucks.

Kids that grew up rich, biggots.

That pretty much sums it up. Let me know when the bus leaves this dump.

Adam X 11-05-2008 01:42 PM

No way can this pass.. if it does it will be fought.

Such a smack in the face to the gay community.. even though I'm straight I'm native to San Francisco til I moved to West Hollywood..being homophobic wasn't really much of an option anyway. Fuckin haters, when will they learn?!
