Brother in a hit & run with my car
 

As my luck would have it, my brother, who I love dearly, so can't be that angry with him, took my 88 Ford 250 Truck out that I just bought for the winter. He was doing some work on it so I could get it certified, then took it for a test drive. There was no insurance on it. He hits some girl, takes off cause he was scared shittless (driving without a license) Now he has 6 huge tickets, and we / me can be sued. We are hoping the girl doesn't go through insurance. Grand total, $8300 we have to pay, plus a lawyer for him who will hopefully be able to stop him from going to jail. Been a great week!!!

Wishful thinking is grand. Its all I have right now. And if the girl goes through in insurance, then my butt will be sued. I guess it sucks to be me right now.

just get advice from a lawyer

just pay her off and make sure you get the deal in writing.. so she doesnt go through her insurance after you pay her

I had some twat do that to me once. It was a little fender bender, all my fault, and I figured it would be cheaper to pay the repairs myself so my rates wouldn't go up. It was only about $500 so no big deal.

About a month later, the bitch decided she wasn't happy with the repairs so she turned it in to her insurance company who sent it to mine who promptly jacked my rates.

Even if she goes through her insurance company, then They will come after you for their expenses. Your basically fucked, not to be mean, but thats just how it is.

I had an accident with a pedestrian (12 year old girl) about 6 years ago. it was all my fault, made a left turn where no left turn was allowed and this girl just ran into my car. no major damage, just the outside mirror broke. I asked the girl if she was allright and she said yes. she was absolutly fine, but I decided to give her my adress, because I still thought I was right (found out about the illegal left turn later). I went to work ... and guess what, when I arrived home that afternoon the police was already there waiting for me. the cheaky dad of the girl knew that I wasn´t allowed to make a left turn, so this bastard has beaten up his daughter and took her to the doctor telling that the injuries came from the car accident, they were trying to sue the shit out of me ... I spent the whole night at the police station because they were accusing me of hit&run, that daddy must have beaten the living shit out of his daughter ...

... anyway, I took her to another doctor the next day, and this doctor stated that the injuries came from a wooden post and not from a car accident ... ahh, your story just brought up some old memories ...

that's fucked up... i was hit and the guy took off. called the cops(got his license plate) and they arrested him that night. turns out the dumb fuck hit a lady in a parking lot on one side of town, chased and hit me on his way across town, then hit another lady in a different lot-- on the other side of town. if i knew then what i know now, i would have gotten a lot more out of it

Damn, that was an expensive test drive! With all the money u will spend on lawyers and damages you could have bought yourself a brand new Ford 250!

The cop told us that if the girl decides to let us pay for it instead of making a claim, that we whould call the insurance company ourselves and tell them we want to pay the bill. I guess we will also make her sign papers saying she won't sue us for damages after. My brother is 24, really good kid, lots going for him, in the army, etc.. And we will be getting a lawyer, who will hopefully keep is butt out of jail. Prob. mess him up big time if that happened. Lots of praying we need to be doing.
