if I started a youtube boycott would anybody follow me?

Anybody? I'm getting ready to put up a huge fight against youtube I will tell you later whats its about if I cant resolve it with them. I am giving them until Friday.

Just a few things on my agenda if we can't resolve this matter by Friday the 7th of November (this is only the beginning)....

1. I have contacted the ACLU and will involve them as much as I can in this process.

2. I will contact Fox news, CNN, my local news, talk radio shows and all the major news publications so I can expose anything and everything that I can

3. I have direct contacts with a few major talk shows and will see if I can sell them on a story that exposes youtube

4. I will make a documentary and try to sell it to a major network TV show exposing the bad side of youtube

5. I will make an anti youtube website which will serve as a community that allows people to share their problems with youtube

6. I will start a youtube boycott and urge people to use reever.com instead.

7. I will explore deeper into all the illegal content youtube has on their site, which you get traffic from and illegally profit from

8. I will explore all my legal options to fight this fight.

9. I realized today after trying to contact youtube that you guys are the closest to the mafia I have ever seen a company come, employees wont even give out their names via customer service. What are you guys hiding from?

10. If all that doesn't work I have a huge following of fans, over 10,000 people and I will urge them to take matters into their own hands to help me fight this fight.

I boycott flash.:2 cents:

wtfent 11-04-2008 04:32 PM

youtube would not even be in existence if it wasn't for stolen content. That whole site was built on stolen money.

Its like a drug dealer killing hundreds of people and making millions and then goes legit, his legit business is only legit because of his illegal drug money. No difference with youtube.

d-null 11-04-2008 04:32 PM

this "huge following of 10,000 fans" sounds intriguing :thumbsup

StuartD 11-04-2008 04:35 PM

Some will follow.
No difference will be made. :2 cents:

I'll boycott companies for a good cause, but I'm really not sure why you would pose the question of "if" people will boycott without giving them solid reasons why. So while I theoretically WOULD boycott youtube, if, say, I found out they had child p*rn all over the site and refused to take it down or somehow protected the people who posted it in the first place, I can't really answer your question without further info.

haha you don't know me. You ever noticed how if a little water drop drips on the same area of concrete for years it puts a whole in it. I'm no different than that little drop of water.

Seriously, you're killing me. I'll bet your threats have youtube running in fear. I mean compared to you, viacom is a small fish. You're going to take your 10,000 friends and go home!

Awesome, thanks for making my day.

You know what's amazing though? For only a few dollars, I can hire someone to repair 100 years worth of little drips in about 30 minutes worth of work.

Thats exactly what I wanted to hear, sorry should have been more clear. I of course will not start a boycott unless there was a good reason.

I'm not. I'm laughing at you. Totally different things.

GrouchyAdmin 11-04-2008 04:51 PM

I remember when people had to actually provide services to make money, rather than threaten lawsuits. I call that the pre-Sharpton era.

Its all good, people laughed at the wright brothers when they said they wanted to make a flying machine. People laughed at the fact that a few people thought the world was round. So whats your point?

Who said this had anything to do with making money? I didn't.

Considering your first statement already said the ALCU, I had a 98% chance of being right. If they have some of your shit and haven't taken it down, that's a job for a lawyer. Anyone who involves the ACLU in something that may have at the most to do with copyright infringement is an asshole.

Sure. Ok. Anyone who wanted anything more but to stir up shit would get a lawyer, and maybe contact the EFF. Congratulations, you're just another rabble-rousing asshole.

Those are actually significant things and made a huge difference...what's the significance of boycotting YouTube? What difference will it make? Even if you somehow remove it from amongst the top trafficekd sites on the web, sites like Hulu, MegaVideo, and the plethora of other video sites will just take its place.

cherrylula 11-04-2008 05:14 PM

soooo...

does this mean you will stop posting here, since they allow youtube videos to be posted in threads now?

good luck, that is a monster to fight.

peeperpimp 11-04-2008 05:17 PM

If you could get all the ppl involved that you have mentioned
(not sayng whether you can or can't) but...

Im pretty sure YouTube would welcome the free publicity with open arms.

DBS.US 11-04-2008 05:52 PM

Where are the Youtube offices located?

dav3 11-04-2008 06:56 PM

I think the people laughing at the first batch of people that said the world was round were laughing over their dead bodys?
