Tubesites vs. Paysite Memberships
 

Im sure im not the only one who has figured this out yet, but for all those people who ask "how do tube sites make money?" seems like redtube (as well as a few others) have found a way - Redtube Paysite and im sure its working for them

So how long is it until the biggest tube sites start a monthly membership fee based site? will the offer a affiliate program? if so, be ready to see tube sites pushed even more then they currently are. and as im sure many of you reading this are asking... how do I start one of my own?

As I see it, here is the problem. A surfer (looking for general type hardcore porn) will like a tube site over a MPG/TGP because when they click on the video, IT PLAYS THE VIDEO! It doesnt take them to another site, and they dont have to download anything. They press play, shake hands with the sheriff, and they are on their way. However, the quality kind of sucks and if they want to save the video to their computer, phone or modded xbox they cant... unless they join a premium service that allows them to do so.

So now you have a surfer who is deciding between paying $30/mo for a paysite or $10/mo to join a membership on a tube site where it looks that there are lots more videos for him to watch and/or download. the major influence... its 1/3 the price!

**im NOT saying tube sites are better than pay sites, but looking at the top level comparison to a surfer**

So, my :2 cents: on this is that either the price point of paysites needs to drop so it is competitive (ouch!) or we just sit back and wait for tube sites to realize that they are not profitable and close their doors... slim chance.

OR we have to start to change the way paysites are setup. To me, they have the same look and function as they did in 2002. Few samples and a video on the home page, 2-3 page tour, then a join page (with or without cross sales). Everyone is complaining saying we, as affiliate marketers, need to evolve... I think its more of the paysites that need to.

Honestly, if I had a chunk of change and some free time, I would set up a few paysites similar to a tube layout with 30 sec to 2 minute trailers, as well as some images, then funnel the surfer into a join page for $xx/mo and PUSH the exclusive content message and why they should join. Now, you are competing with tube membership sites. If anyone wants to send me a $$$ donation for my advice, feel free :winkwink: hahaha

I sell memberships to my tube site, Gutter.com for 9.83. Its cheap, they like it and they stick around longer.

Heres the kicker... When you're also pushing sponsored videos with banners and text links, you have a chance of converting the same surfer on your tube site, and later at another sponsor. Most surfers that convert at another sponsor, still keep their cheap Gutter.com membership. It becomes a place for them to find what they really like, review some of the content, and convert at the place thats best for them. They filter themselves.

the only complaint i have with tubeclicks is that they dont have co-brand or white labelling like cams.com
