I think wherever AI goes it is good for business. Did you hear he gets 21 Million for this season alone. Not bad for a getto gangbanger!

agree that Dumars is one smart guy but I don't think Iverson is a good idea - he's never been a team player, even though nobody in the history of the NBA has ever put it all on the floor every night the way Iverson has - but a one man team where the one man is barely 6 feet tall didn't work in Philadelphia when he was in his prime and it won't work in Detroit. Unless Iverson's matured a lot. I didn't follow that closely how he and Carmelo Anthony played together - couldn't have been that great because Denver didn't win anything.

Dumars will keep the Pistons competitive but they're not championship contenders anymore.

I think this is a really weird fit. I thought that with the Nuggets AI could have done something good... Pistons... I just dont see it...

              we're talking about PRACTICE

thats all I have to say to prove he doesn't belong in a Pistons uniform. Pistons have been the hardest working TEAM in the NBA for years now. AI is selfish and lazy BUT Billups is clearly washed up, the rookie played better last year in the playoffs than Billups did SO they have a good replacement already sitting there to play PG

I'm looking for the Pistons to make another move before too much longer because AI can't play the PG and rip can't play alongside AI because they don't have a distributor.

Look for the Pistons to smallball it. Prince at PF (he's so freakin thin) move rip to SF (too small) and move the young guy to PG.

Billups has lost a step or three.

I've never liked AI because with his low FG% he has to take a lot of shots to get his points. Plus Michael Curry as a rookie head coach may have a problem keeping him under control.

I think Dumars made the deal because AI and Sheed's contracts expire after the season and the Pistons will have shitloads of cap room. Those guys may be playing this year to get one more big contract in free agency which is another problem for Curry.

Dumars was pissed when they lost in the playoffs last year. He may be real pissed this year.

I just read a very interesting article about Dumars making this trade to get further on the good side of agents Leon Rose and William Wesley, who represent Iverson and Lebron James. The thought is they are doing the agents a favor to make Iverson happy, and that will push them to the front of the line when Lebron becomes a free agent...

Lebron won't be going to the Pistons - he's gonna go to New York, that's where David Stern and the NBA owners, the NBA's sponsors, the companies with endorsement contracts with Lebron, all want him - on Broadway.

sucks to be a Cavs fan - almost all NBA superstars stay with the teams that drafted them but I am pretty sure Lebron is gonna be one that gets away.

My original guess was that LeBron was going to go to the Nets, since they were supposed to be moving to Brooklyn and he has close ties with Jay-Z. The problem with that is everything I have read, including the article I linked to, has said the Nets move to Brooklyn is in the shitter. As much as the Knicks would seem like a logical destination Isiah Thomas fucked up their salary cap so badly that Donnie Walsh would have to pull a fucking rabbit out of his ass to clear the cap room to sign LeBron. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but there are a lot of bad contracts in NY that have to be cleared out first...

Some teams are setting themselves up for the "2010 plan" when the most superstars in NBA history will be free agents. That is going to be a wild summer and the face of the NBA will change.

Iverson expires after this season (Billips has many years left), so this was indeed a salary dump by Detroit. Rasheed is 2009 also, so that's $35 Million off the books between the two.

Good move for Denver also since they already have a superstar and just need to add the right nuts and bolts around him.

Very good trade. Billups has lost a step especially on defense. AI gives the pistons a legit high 20's a night scorer and this is the last year of his contract so at the end of the year they can clear AI and Rasheed off the books and have nearly $22 million in cap space to work with.

Yep I think thats what they are thinking. I can't see Dumars actually wanting Iverson on Detroit past that.

Iverson is a cancer to any team.

that article did make me think about Detroit likely is the frontrunner for Lebron now BUT who in there right mind actually thinks lebron is the key other than some pathetic cavs fans?

Lebron can't shoot when it counts and he can't EVER hit free throws! There's no excuse for a pro basketball player to NOT hit 85% or more of his free throws, that 75 y/o college player even nailed both his FT's yesterday, its something that EVERY player should be able to do. Lebron sucks in the clutch but I guess when you put up that many triple doubles he can pass it to another player who hopefully can make it. I just don't see Lebron as a true franchise carrying player.

Pistons play the Raptors tonight - they can have Lebron, i'll take Chris Bosh. and i'm serious about that.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

I sure don't want Lebron, I only like players that perform in the CLUTCH like Billups

This move will free up 21 million dollars for the pistons next year, They want Lebron James in 2010,they have to have lots of money to sign him thats why they made this trade, to free cap space.
