New polls show McCain can win

According to new polls McCain is still closing the gap and is now either ahead or within the margin of error in all of the swing states.

As it stands this morning it appears apparent that Obama will win the popular vote (by several million) but may lose the electoral vote if McCain continues to gain ground in the swing states. If this happens there will be another outcry to do away with the electoral system but I don't expect that it will be done away with.

Those are national polls and it is only state polls that count, more specifically the polls in the swing states.

I first saw the results of the polls on MSNBC this morning, but have since seen them on several different news media during this day.

I have said all along if the 18-24 year olds (most of whom support Obama) turn up and vote Obama will win and he could win by a very large margin. If they don't it will be much closer than a lot of people might think.

I still think Obama will win, but McCain can win a few states here and there and make it interesting.

Sure it will. In 2000 the republicans controled congres so of course they won't change the system. with the democrats controlling 2/3 of the house and 60% of the Senate you can be damend sure cahnges to the electoral system will be made and McCain would have ZERO choice but to accept them. Fact is if McCain wins the electoral college( which if he does he's BARELY do it ) and Barack wins the popular vote there will be riots in the streets that will make the LA riots after Rodney King trial look like playtime. McCain will never be looked at as a legitimate president and Congress will be in ZERO mood to compromise on anythjing and without Congress McCain isn't going to get shit done. Despite what some people think it's CONGRESS that passes the laws not the president.

All I can say for McCain is be careful what you wish for you may get it. Fact is McCain at this point should HOPE he loses. A McCain win will actually fuck the GOP up so much it will take a generation for it to recover.

While I'm not 100% sure about the riots I do fully agree with you that McCain would be a lame duck right from the start. The house and senate will have him on such a short leash that he will have to ask to take a shit and he will spend the next 4 years butting heads with them and get next to nothing done.

As for riots if Obama loses I think it depends on how he would lose. If it really looks like some kind of scam was pulled and there are a ton of voting problems that look like they aided McCain there will be lawsuits and unrest. If it just looks like 15% of the voters changed their mind about voting for the black guy or the young voters end up not turning out (or a little of both) and McCain wins because of that I don't think it will be as bad.

WhiplashDug 11-03-2008 01:43 PM

Only poll that matters... http://www.ibdeditorials.com/series13.aspx?src=POLLTOPN

Obama 47.5% McCain 43%
Obama's lead has widened by 1.5% in last 24 hours, but the undecided is also larger.
This poll was OFF by less than 1/2 of 1 % in 2004.

Everyone better vote!

I'm 100% sure af the riots. Detroit nearly burns itself to the ground everytime the Pistons win a NBA title. And I'm old enough to remember the 1992 riots. That started beause all those white cops got off. Now if black rioted because they felt Rodney King got fucked over WTF do you think they are going to do when they they feel they ALL got fucked over? I'm telling you and you can quote me later if McCain wins the electoral college and Barack wins the popular vote this country is going to get lit up.

like drudge sat morning. headline mccain up by 1. well that was one poll that covered a 36 hour period during the week last week in one state with only nascar dads. comeon stop watching foxnews it'll rot your brain

I think the scenario that would cause the most trouble would be Obama winning the popular vote by a couple of million then McCain winning the electoral college in a very close race that came down to one state and there was all kinds of voting issues in that state. Right or wrong it would make it look like McCain stole the election and a lot of people would be very pissed.

And that's the only scenario McCain can win under. It doesn't matter if there is any voter fraud or not. If Obama loses come close states and thus the election most blacks will think it was stolen regardless of the facts. Which part is hard for people to get? When you are fucked over by whitey for 400 years it natural to assume whitey fucked you over again. Obama WILL win the popular vote by at least 2.5 million by my estimation.

I agree. I think regardless he will win the popular vote by at least a couple million votes. I have a feeling that he will win in a landslide and take most of the battleground states too. I read a poll the other day that included people that only have cell phones (mostly younger people) and he is way out ahead in those polls (although there is no guarantee that those people will actually vote). Also they say there is a 30% rise in the number of black people that are voting and that many of those people are first time voters and they have helped put states like Georgia in play. If both those group show up and vote tomorrow it will be a landslide.

To me the biggest factor that Obama has going for him is who is running the elections. In the last two elections in two of the biggest battleground states the sec. of state for those states who is in charge of the election were republicans and they were also in charge of Bush's campaign in that state so they did what they could to tilt things in favor of Bush. In both of those states the sec. of state is now a democrat so you know they won't be doing little things behind the scenes screw Obama.

Why do you feel the need to lie. I have never made such a statement. President Bush has failed as being a good President and has been an even worse Commander in Chief.
