A friend of mine has a 14 year old daughter so all her friends are 14-15. Her birthday was a few weeks ago so I was over and she had a bunch of friends there. They seemed like nice enough kids. Then they were all going to a movie so they went upstairs and changed. When they came back down it looked like the shift change at a strip club. My buddies wife made half of them change because she said she wasn't going to be seen driving a bunch of girls to a movie that looked like they were ready to walk the streets.

my confusion is based on personal experience. i never had a girlfriend dress up like a hooker, but a friends daughter did. but since her sister dressed as a pimp we cautiously let it go.

I respectfully disagree. My daughter is nine and went out as a "Princess". Does that mean I'm a good parent now? What happens over the next six years of her life, who knows. Teenagers rebel and parents only have so much control no matter HOW good the parents have been to that point. Hopefully what the parents have instilled into them UP to that point will have a bearing on their judgement, but that isn't always the case. Peer pressure does play a role in the lives of our children.

However, I also can't see us under any circumstances ALLOWING my daughter to go out on Halloween dressed up as a hooker. Again, how society progresses over the next six years, who knows. Perhaps hookers will be more visible or "mainstream", which would make it, sadly, more socially acceptable. If it ever came to that, you can bet that we would at LEAST sit down with our daughter and ask her WHY she WANTS to go out dressed as a hooker. It could be something as simple as wanting to dress up for an annual costume event as something that she knows she'll never be.

Anyways, with the clothes girls are wearing nowadays, I figure we'll have a bigger battle on our hands with that.

On the actual topic...if my wife dressed up as a hooker, who cares. It's Halloween. Now, if she hands me $50 at the end of the night I'd be concerned. But, if she handed me $500 at the end of the night, she'd be changing jobs.
