In a telephone interview from her mountain home in Rancho Mirage, California, Rice laid out her goal:

"To be able to take the tools, the apprenticeship, whatever I learned from being a vampire writer, or whatever I was -- to be able to take those tools now and put them in the service of God is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful opportunity," she said. "And I hope I can redeem myself in that way. I hope that the Lord will accept the books I am writing now."

BTW in her novels you always saw a whole lot of questioning of god, the devil, and religion. It was not like it came out of nowhere.

Anybody ever read the "Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" series by her? (Written under the pseudonym of A N Roquelaure) To me, the jump from vampires to that series was much more shocking.

Perhaps not but I suspect that you won't be seeing any such questioning or even reflection in her next book. Instead, smug certainty, slavish dogmatism and mind numbing repetition awaits your eager eye.
